A light-hearted mid-tempo jam, Janelle pays homage to 90's R&B with this cheeky hit perfect for a moment of escapism.
"A lot of my previous songs have been melancholic or reflecting the struggle within relationships, but it's important to be reminded that there's levity too. Sometimes people stick to you like the sweat on the back of your neck after napping with the windows open in the middle of summer. "Staycation" is my nostalgic sonic nod to the millennium R&B that raised me, carving out room for fantasy love" explains Janelle Kroll.
Janelle recently released her music video for single "Barricade" and will be dropping her EP early fall.
Portland's hip hop and r&b scene has really come into the public eye within the last year, and Eyrst Records, an imprint that was started by producer Neill Von Tally and former Portland Blazers player Martel Webster, is in the middle of that scene. The label's next release is LA-by-way-of-Portland MC, Myke Bogan. Past Bogan releases hit the number 14 spot on iTunes Top 100 and the Bandcamp hip-hop charts the day it dropped, and he's been covered by AllHipHop.com, The Source, Flood, Okayplayer.com, Hip Hop Weekly, Hip HopDX, Paste, and even XXL’s The Break. He has successfully set the precedent for his stylized visuals and dynamic delivery, coupled with a charismatic and fiery persona, earning him more than 800,000 video views and landing on the same stage as hip-hop legends Snoop Dogg, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Wu Tang Clan, and more.
Myke Bogan will release "Pool Party" (with contributions from Michael Christmas, Blossom, Neill Von Tally, and The Last Artful, Dodgr) on Aug 18 via Eyrst Records. Fall tour plans are firming up.
Its difficult to imagine the post-soviet pop scene without the controversial story of Ivan Dorn.
In 2011 the tall blond Ukrainian became an overnight sensation with his debut album ‘Co’n’Dorn’. His unique blend of 90s house, pop, nu-disco, funk and free jazz, came as a breath of fresh air to the suffocated Eastern Europe pop scene. The well-crafted compilation of catchy pop tunes brought the 23 year old into the spotlight. His fashion-forward style, controversial public appearances, fancy footwork and contagious personality caught on like wild fire. Within months Ivan Dorn and his band filled sports arenas around the country and he quickly earned a spot as a judge on The Voice Ukraine.
In 2014, just when it seemed like Ivan would follow the footsteps of most modern pop stars with radio-friendly hits and overproduced music videos, he dropped, “Randorn”, an album that would redefine him as an artist and bridge the gap between the underground and the mainstream. The masterpiece featured an odd selection of unique tracks sounding anywhere from Aphex Twins to Kavinski passing through Pharrell Williams. Although it was initially received with mixed feelings, the record quickly topped the charts and had audiences dancing from the VIP areas of the high society to the basements of the underground.
In 2016, Ivan started Masterskaya, an independent music label focused on bringing the exciting sound of Ukrainian underground to the main stage. Out of the blue, the 28 year old artist moved to Los Angeles to start recording his first English-language album, and quickly found himself inspired by the ocean breeze and palm trees. His US debut album is now on its way, and with feature a tight selection of tracks that, like Ivan, don’t follow the rules.
If there is one thing we’ve learned about Ivan over the years, is that if you think you have him all figured out, you are probably already one step behind.
Soopasoul returns with a hot new track after a 7 year absence!
Pushin' Weight sees the main man and his band return to form like they never went away. Complete with a full funk complement of conga, wah wah guitar, driving bass and jazzy horns - it's a groove that doesn't quit.
Danny 'Soopasoul' Bennett made his name as a DMC DJ before establishing himself as a true behemoth of the instrumental funk scene with his debut album 'Twin Stix' and more chart topping DJ edits than you can shake a stick at.
Pushin Weight / Brand Nu (7" edit) will be available 04.08.17 on Jalapeno Records.
I'm the future of hiphop, I promise this song will be worth your time. You can find more of me on any of these sites.
Wildfire, a playful and rebellious end-of-summer hit, is a perfect musical blend of two uniquely talented artists, Mia Vaile and James Mercy. Lyrically, Mia delivers a genius verse inspired by the idea of being true to yourself in the face of adversity. James Mercy perfectly compliments Mia with his unique blend of contagious melodies and inimitable deep 808 kicks. The track is as forward-thinking as one can find in today’s world of overly-repetitive sounds.
Sydney band Left. have released their new single “Thank Me Later” today. The song is a heartfelt apology for giving up on a relationship.
Rinsed in nostalgic synths,Thank Me Later is an anthemic single with howling vocals delays and an 80’s tinged rhythmic drive.
The electronic pop duo is made up of singer Sarah Corry and guitarist/producer Jono Graham, and they’ve joined forces with producer Cam Parkin to create a powerful, intricate ballad.
Left. work closely with One Day talents Adit Gauchan (Horrorshow) and Spit Syndicate on their projects, with Jono touring with Spit Syndicate currently.
“It’s been almost a year since our last single, but we’ve been busy working on a new EP. With a new member of the team, Cam Parkin, we’ve lifted our game and finessed ideas a lot more at the pro- duction level. We’re really excited for people to hear this song, and the rest of the work we’ve been hibernating over,” says Sarah.
With a couple of releases under their belt,“Thank Me Later” is the first single off their upcoming EP “Stay/Go”, to be released in Spring 2017. The EP is a bit of a ‘Sliding Doors’ concept, exploring the repercussions of making one seemingly small decision.
Left. have clocked up over a million plays of their catalogue on Spotify, with standout “No Way” re- ceiving 400,000 plays and enjoying viral success on the AU Viral 50 playlist when released. Last year they were Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist in June and were played across Triple J and Unearthed as well as local radio RRR and FBi.
Jared Thurston, or Jthurston is an established artist out of the Bay Area. Hailing specifically from the 82nd block of East Oakland, Jthurston brings a unique approach to Bay-style rap. Over generally dark, yet energetic production, J uses his adaptive flow to deliver messages of team dedication, city love, and all around bragging. With a sound reminiscent of a Drake/J.cole/Kanye hybrid, Jthurston is known to switch from all around lyrical rapping to a more harmonizing style. The front runner for Oakland's local music collective NFK (NewFound Kingdom), J has an energy that is impossible to ignore, a fact made evident by his high voltage live performances. J's Music is available through every media outlet such as iTunes, Spotify, and Pandora Radio. On August 25, 2016 Jthurston released his project "Pyramids", which was later placed on the Editor's Pick list on the CD Baby website. His Singles "Flexin" and "Autopilot" have earned Jthurston high praise as an artist as well as radio play on several stations. Jthurston's track titled "Honest feat. Flight" earned him a spot on the #V6 mixtape from popular blog site Bayareacompass. Jthurston is the #1 ranked artist on Reverbnation locally in the Oakland area as well as regionally in the Northern California area, and in October of 2016 he was placed on Reverbnation's "Crowd Picks" list as a featured artist. Jthurston's latest album "All I Want is Everything" was released on July 1st, 2017.
RAMUUN, a musical duo with unique Hip Hop/fusion power from the future, consists of Luna Zaka and Narayan from Zion. Their story unfolds like a super hero graphic novel epic; each step of their life long journey into musical harmonyis laden with sonic synchronistic gems. Renowned music producer/artist Jackson Whalan says. “RAMUUN is the next woman-and-man music duo to be discovered, and it’s going to be massive. Here we have Lithuanian vocalist/composer/writer/pianist Luna Zaka, and the uber-funky Californian producer, MC, and visual artist, Narayan from Zion, currently based in Sonoma County, CA.”
RAMUUN is currently putting the finishing touches on Verbal Hypnosis, their first video and album. After over a year and a half in the studio with more than 20 songs in the making, they have created a very unique and definitive style both in music and branding. Their new 12 song album is paradigm shifting. Producer/artist Whalen goes on to say, “Sonically, just imagine if Die Antwoord was from California and was stirred into a cauldron with Erykah Badu, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Norah Jones, with seasonings of a unique stand-out rap-voice, as recognizable as Cypress Hill, The Beastie Boys, or other such legends whose voices can be clearly distinguished. And yet, these references do no justice in describing how RAMUUN actually sounds. You just have to listen. It’s like what you might hear on another planet.”

The “American Dream” Didn’t Pan Out? Try “California Dream (Feat. T3RU)”:
RAMUUN Emerges Strong with a Bouncy West Coast Anthem for Your Summer
RAMUUN is the next woman-and-man music duo to be discovered, and it’s going to be massive. Here we have Lithuanian vocalist and musician Luna Zaka, and the uber-funky Californian producer, mc, and visual artist, Narayan from Zion, currently based in Sonoma County, CA. More than a collaboration, the connection is a union of love. Sonically, just imagine if Die Antwoord was from California and was stirred into a cauldron with Erykah Badu, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Norah Jones, with seasonings of a unique stand-out rap-voice, as recognizable as Cypress Hill, The Beastie Boys, or other such legends whose voices can be clearly distinguished. And yet, these references do no justice in describing how RAMUUN actually sounds. It’s like what you might hear on another planet. Somehow those futuristic frequencies were able to be transported down to Earth, and translated into a Hip-Hop/Fusion with electronic and bass music for people to comprehend. There is a depth of ideas for the mind and an equal amount feelings for the body. There is an overall “vibe” to their sound, with all the moving parts creating a larger feeling, adding up to an unmistakeable brand with potential to grow. Having already dropped their first single, the profound and perhaps tear-jerking“Tibetan Flags” , there is a momentum building for their project as we move into the summer. RAMUUN will release their debut album Verbal Hypnosis in July (2017), with multiple singles and a music video leading up to the full album release.
“California Dream (Feat. T3RU)” is, no doubt, the cannabis anthem of the zeitgeist. The song is ready to make history on music festival sound systems up and down the gold coast, or perhaps through the airwaves on the radio that sits at the trim-table at your buddy’s grow spot in Humboldt County. 808-driven, even a bit weird and ominous, with a charming flute one-shot, and odd syncopations of beat-box, the production is a danceable canvas for Luna Zaka’s freaky-wild singing. As Narayan and his 19 year old “spirit son” T3RU drop relentless rhymes about positive West Coast living, the listener's’ imagination gets rolled up and lit. It’s all in there: the traveling, the diverse landscapes, the natural beauty, the prosperity, the spirituality, the “trim scene”, going back to the nugs, the modern day gold rush in California. The hook is about the togetherness and celebration of a culture that is a summation all these things. “Everybody came to live…”, likening the pilgrimage of to CA to that of the 19th century immigration into America.
As the seeds sprout, and the plants begin to grow, take a moment to peep the psychedelically ceremonial Bonnie and Clyde that is RAMUUN!

Classic hip hop style track where artist/producer BentleyHendrixx recalls some of his memories of past events and situations. Jazzy boom bap vibe with all original production.
Zalon, the main backing artist and collaborator with Amy Winehouse just has released his Album and first single 'Erica' - to a sold out gig in London. Erica is about a woman who is untrustworthy whose giving Zalon the run around but she should just be true and honest with herself.
Here is a new song from San Jose,CA born, San Diego residing emcee/producer Jimmy Javier titled 'Grow Up'. Description below.
'Grow up' according to Miriam Webster's definition is 'to grow toward or arrive at full stature or physical or mental maturity' or 'to begin to exist and develop as time passes'. And according to Jimmy Javier, the Bay Area native's latest release encompasses all of the above. Maturing as a man, as an artist, and growing upward in LIFE.
Switching up from his typical "boom bap" production, Jimmy still finds his way to flip a vocal sample but giving it a new bounce. Over hard hitting 808 drums Jimmy flexes clever lyricism referencing everything from Madden, WWE, basketball, and the "president" of the US, Donald Trump into his rhymes.
'Grow Up' gives you the summertime in Southern California vibe and with a dope beat and dope rhymes to match, something for you to enjoy. Because in the end all everybody wants to do is grow UP.
Memoir is a “powerhouse” songwriting team, comprised of lead singer and lyricist Dena Deadly, music producer, Zed Kelley. The crew could not come from more diametric backgrounds (Zed, growing up in Anchorage, AK, Dena, in Hollywood, CA, and Remy, in the bay area), but somehow this musical pairing makes perfect sense. After meeting in a recording studio, in Hollywood, Zed & Dena were married and began writing & composing music for their own production and publishing company, “Deadly Love Music”. Dena's brother, Remy, joined the team about 4 years back and they formed Memoir. Through their collaborations on many hits songs for artists, such as Cee-Lo Greene, Will-I-AM, Groove Armada, Nick Jonas, Jack Splash, Angie Stone, Esthero, Scott Storch, Warren G, Method Man & Pitbull, to name a few, hit-makers, Dena and Zed, soon realized their powerful potential in joining forces.
Upon contributing their multi talents to illustrious vocal and hip-hop stars, they began writing songs and composing music for television and feature films, including "Bad Moms," "Empire," "The Lying Game," “The Fosters,” "Make it or Break it," "Shake it Up,” "The Good Fight,", "Failure to Launch," "Warrior," "Playing for Keeps" and the theme song for “Vanderpump Rules" and "Summer House.” Memoir offers a kaleidoscope of musical influences ranging from soul, funk, rock, and hip-hop, to blues, and even drawing from the heart-wrenching, bittersweet beauty of old spirituals.
Memoir’s first full length album, "Fire In Me," was released in the spring of 2014 and has been featured in dozens of online music blogs. Many songs from the album have been and continue to be featured in several TV shows and played all over college radio. Most notably, KCRW featured their first single, "Los Angeles" in their “Top Tune Of The Day” segment. Memoir has been #1 across several college markets and their single "Los Angeles", rose to the top of Hype Machine, and has over 100,000 plays on soundcloud. Their tour for the album took them all the way across the country and back and landed them performances at both SXSW and CMJ.
That record was followed up with an EP, dubbed "Electric Soul." Shortly after releasing this EP, they were invited to play live on Andy Cohen's show, "Watch What Happens Live," where they performed their Vanderpump Rules theme song, "Raise Your Glass."
Memoir's newest release, "Manifesto," includes "Castles In The Sky" (a warning letter to the "1%ers") , "#SayHerName" (a song written for Wakiesha Wilson, after she was murdered by the LAPD, March 27th, 2016), and "We Make Music". The record that will follow, is set to release in the summer of 2017.
