One of the LA rap scene’s most consistently present voices, Hugh Augustine joins The Internet’s Syd Tha Kyd on his newest single, “Nights on Replay," chronicling the surreal joy of a night in LA that we hope could last forever. THE MOST ART production evokes the smoky dreamlike vibes of evenings out, with intercut scintillating vocals from Syd, and Hugh Augustine’s raps contain a chill reserve, simmering at just the right frequency to channel the sleepless ecstasy of an eternal 4AM. The single premiered on Billboard Magazine , who say, "Trust us, this is one you'll want on replay."
The narrative visual, which takes place within an evening on loop in Los Angeles, was directed by Aplus (Schoolboy Q's "Man of the Year," Kendrick Lamar's "HiiPower") Fredo Tovar, Scott Fleischman, and Edwin Tovar.
ABOUT HUGH AUGUSTINE:
In 2011, the 25-year-old rapper was the victim of another man’s gang initiation, shot three times (twice in one leg, once in the other) while walking in Long Beach with a large group of friends and family, five of whom were also hit.
Akin to his unwavering determination while rehabilitating, Augustine’s apparent unflagging tenacity lives with his catalog. Since 2012, he’s released four projects of increasing promise and collaborated with rising L.A. rappers, Warm Brew . His last album, Massimo Ciabatta, was released via the Order Label, the rap distribution arm of Alpha Pup Records. Hugh most recently featured on Top Dawg Entertainment’s Isaiah Rashad’s latest album, The Sun’s Tirade, on the crowd-favorite, “Tity and Dolla” (featuring Jay Rock).
