Face of Man - Lavender

"Lavender" is the first single off Face of Man's forthcoming sophomore LP, Bouquet, out on 29 June 2017 on Mr. Records. It's our most personal song, written when I was with my mother in the final stages of her cancer. It explores the mixing of the mundane and the sublime, and the sadness that was cut by the strange beauty of her resilience.

Face of Man is a collaboration between Alex Silva, Jesse Chevan, and Evan Johnson. They joined the Mr. Records family in 2017 for their second LP, Bouquet. For their sophomore release Face of Man continues its project of pop maximalism - high life guitar layered over the subs and crackles of modern pop production, R&B vocal flights nestled into modular art rock structures - with a plaintive, midwestern candor. Thematically, the LP explores female relationships and their variegated forms: the familial, the lustful, and the romantic. Bouquet, despite it's melancholy, lifts the listener with lush, contrasting colors and an impression of gradual unfolding.

60 East - Almost There

After starting the year off strong getting invited to headline Winterclash, the biggest rollerblading competition in the world, this year just outside of Amsterdam then continuing on to his 2nd Headlining European Tour, West Coast Artist 60 East returns with the Artwork and Single to his new project.

Almost There is the first Single off "The Freeway Series Vol.2: Cruise Control", which is the sequel to 60 East's critically acclaimed EP debut. For the follow-up, 60 collaborated with East Coast producer Phil The Pain, who produced the project in its entirety. The Music Video for "Almost There" will be dropping June 6th and features cameos from A-F-R-O, Devin The Dude, Mr. Green and Tek of Smif N Wessun. The EP is set to release June 20th but you can get an early copy on 60's Website.

Oski - Go My Way ft. The Arcturians

After the runaway success of last year’s debut collection for Quality Goods Records, ‘Kid Chrome,’ sharp-minded producer and DJ Oski makes a return to UZ’s label on May 26th. He presents the four-track ‘Kid Calamity’ EP, another chance for his growing fan base to enjoy an array of new sounds.

Oski is an artist who doesn’t believe in the constrains of genres, instead choosing to produce tunes that fuse elements of hip hop, dubstep, trap and drum and bass into one incredibly infectious package. Counting the likes of DJ Snake, Bassnectar, Dillon Francis and of course UZ himself as fans, each fresh release pushes his work to a wider audience.

The EP opens with ‘Go My Way’ ft. The Arcturians, an immensely powerful listen that fuses wonky melodies, striking vocals and a meandering bass line that is filled to the brim with edgy groove. Up next is ‘Lose It’ ft. Macntaj, another stellar collaboration with Hydraulix. With gritty tones telling a story of its own, ‘Lose It’ introduces strong brass instrumentation, clanging percussion and earth shattering drops that are laced with intense rhythmical charge.

‘Bad’ ft. Anuka comes next, and again Oski uses impossible to ignore vocals to add a new dimension to this punchy cut. Featuring snatches of well-known sample snatches rock-esque guitar hooks alongside that weighty bassline, ‘Bad’ is exactly as its name suggests. Closing the EP is ‘Shadows’ ft. Vitillaz, a darkly progressive sound that is filled with analogue synth patterns and a cavernous, low-end urgency. Vitallaz’ softly whispered tones provide further menace to this thickly layered finisher.

Oski says of ‘Kid Calamity’: "Naturally occurring, yet artificially constructed; familiar, yet unfamiliar. These are the themes that remain constant throughout my music. ‘Kid Calamity’ is the culmination of a whole series of happy mistakes and perfect imperfections, wrapped up in a neat little bow.”

Xavier White - A Wonder

True talent lies in the ability to trigger a range of emotions within listeners. Xavier White represents New York City through the organic timbre of his sound. Harnessing the innovation of modern productions, as well as emotional rawness found in older R&B sounds, Xavier White definitely is an underrated talent sure to break out into the mainstream. His Cancer vs. Gemini EP was released early 2016. Working alongside producer and song-writer Paul Couture, the two exhibited excellent song-writing skills depicting solid narratives through White's sultry chops.

Fast forward to 2017 and the duo once again linked up with a House infused track perfect for summer pool and rooftop parties. Despite the pleasant sonic cocktail of Paul Couture's production, what shines through most on “A Wonder” is Xavier's secret weapon—the purity of his voice. The track tells the narrative of his ex-girlfriend coming back into his life out of the blue, however the way he delivers it is intoxicating and endlessly repeatable. This track has a central hook that will be swirling around your mind all day. "Every night's a wonder, a wonder with you…"

CHIMES - Nite Swimming

Dance pop duo CHIMES release their highly anticipated, Ninety Four EP via M:UK (Draper, Loop, REID) on 12th May.

CHIMES is the collaboration between London-based duo, pop producer Jamie Draper and multi-genre songwriter/vocalist, Paul Aiden.

With Draper’s love of dance and pop, and Aiden’s experience working within the genres of EDM, folk, rock, R&B and pop, CHIMES is perhaps an unpredictable match, but their natural creative chemistry and shared love of constructing credible, commercial songs with international appeal is what makes them so unique.

Establishing a steady online presence, CHIMES has garnered regular support from BBC Introducing as well as being included in various key Spotify playlists.

The Ninety Four EP comprises of previously released EP tracks, Wolves and Cold, that have drawn praise from the likes of CLASH, Kick Kick Snare, Dancing Astronaut and Going Solo, as well as new single Nite Swimming which features an addictive, melodic drum beat and spine tingling harmonies, creating an incredibly vivid image of floating amongst the stars in space. It is also a little tribute to the late Prince, who would often spell ‘Nite’ this way.

CHIMES explain about the EP,

“The EP captures a blend of creativity and escapism. The themes that run throughout - love, loss, frustration, life, happiness, hopes and dreams - bring meaning but also get you dancing. The title refers to the house number in which we wrote and recorded the majority of the EP!”

Surprisingly, the Ninety Four EP is their first body of work released together, but they have certainly made a bold statement with this EP, showcasing their incredible ability to make infectious dance pop tunes with effervescent electronics and accessible lyrics.

The duo formed in 2014, following speculative songwriting sessions. Since then, Draper and Aiden have been busy applying the skills acquired from working with global artists (Draper has written singles for Cheryl, Låpsley, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora and Little Mix, and Aiden has appeared as a featured artist on top releases worldwide) into making the kind of songs that they are both passionate about.

As CHIMES explain,

“There was space for something new, fresh and powerful to make a mark…hopefully our blend of indie rock combined with mainstream dance music continues to connect with people the way it has been doing at our gigs.”

Live, CHIMES put on an energetic show, creating a special experience that involves maximum audience participation. Their last gig was a sold out headline show at The Old Blue Last in London, and they expect to make an even bigger splash this year, proving that CHIMES are well on their way as becoming one of the most promising artists of 2017.
