Jordana Talsky - "Run"

September 17, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Indie Pop

“Jordana made a very positive impression on these ears with her 2013 debut, Standard Deviation. She ups the ante on this new album, one that shows a real evolution in her singing and writing. Her pure phrasing is devoid of affectation, and her supple voice is equally convincing on a wide range of material.”

- Kerry Doole (FYIMusicNews)

THE ALBUM

Jordana Talsky’s new full length album ‘Neither of Either’ marks an evolution from jazz songstress to performer with a distinct sound, combining acapella and full band tracks while seamlessly weaving between intricate support harmonies, vocal percussion and quirky textures to create an innovative and compelling sound.

The Toronto based vocalist-songwriter takes risks, sonically and stylistically, encompassing her diverse influences across multiple genres from jazz to pop, to alternative and ambient, to blues and soul and beyond.

Produced by Juno award winner Justin Abedin, the multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer recognized Jordana’s innate sense of music and deep well of creativity. “She understands the value in the craft of songwriting and brings a fresh approach to her style”.

Pushing the boundaries of her current sound, Jordana and Justin ensured the 10 track ‘Neither of Either’ has a great vibe, ease of vocal transition, convincing lyrics and musicality that harkens to other strong female voices influential on Jordana including Fiona Apple, Dido, Feist and Alanis Morissette.

THE ARTIST

Jordana Talsky is a voice to be heard. Her unique sound and varied style may be attributed to her wide ranging experience. Once an opera singer, a musical theatre performer, and member of a funk band, Jordana pushes boundaries and embraces all of her musical sensibilities. She was a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, a semi-finalist in the Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition, and runner-up for the Julian Award of Excellence for Emerging Canadian Artists and Toronto Independent Music Awards (vocal jazz).

With a live show of high energy and excitement Jordana’s reputation has led her to perform in several music festivals and renowned venues. Established as one of Canada’s most exciting new artists in music, Jordana Talsky continues to perform on many notable stages both in the US and Canada making her a rising entertainer to watch.

THE TRACKS

From the catchy quirky intro of “Run” to the roots infused post-rock “Around You All The Time” followed by the darkly soulful “Ways”, and the epitome of being fed up expressed in “Sick”, Side A rounds out with “Bitter Sweet Heart”, where Jordana’s mesmerizing voice takes over. “Spark”, the first track on Side B, is a reminder that sometimes, that’s all that’s needed. “Wave of Emotion” conveys the confusion of being pulled in two directions while the title track, “Neither of Either” considers that sometimes not making the choice is wise. The RnB flavoured “Don’t Know” precedes Jordana’s imaginative acapella remake of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know” and completes the album much like it began – catchy, great vibe and shining vocals.

Azad - "MOTTOLA"

September 17, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Rap

After his 2016 effort A Very Emotional EP allotted millions of streams and certified his status as a genuine force within hip-hop, Mind Of A Genius VP Azad is back with a fresh single that takes his sound to new heights. Titled “Mottola,” it’s a wavy joint with a thunderous low-end for Azad to spit serious bars atop (“Fuck a major, I go sign myself, blow up your favorite artist then I’ll co-sign myself”). The track comes equipped with a dynamic music video whose visuals are constantly shifting into psychedelic territory.

On how the track came about, Azad explains “This is my favorite track from my favorite band (THEY.) of 2017. I named the freestyle MOTTOLA because I studied Tommy (and Jimmy Iovine, Dame Dash) like I studied my favorite musicians.” As for its accompanying visuals, he notes “We went on a Europe trip this Summer and shot videos for my entire upcoming project. This one was done in Amsterdam."

Rock (of Heltah Skeltah) - "Rockness A.P." (prod. by The Arcitype)

September 17, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop

The latest single from Rock’s highly anticipated solo debut, Rockness A.P., finds the Brownsville native getting brutally honest about his career, and what it means to record without his partner-in-rhyme ( the late Sean Price ).

On “Rockness A.P.”, the gruff-voiced emcee puts aside his trademark tough talk and always-clever bars for an eye-opening look at why it’s taken so long for him to release a proper album on his own. Did you know that his career was put on hold at one point because of the beef between Eminem and Limp Bizkit? How about all that happened during his time away from Duck Down Records?

It’s rare to hear anyone get this candid on a track—nevermind a rapper known for delivering tough bravado with a smirk. But Rock puts it all out there as he learns how to move on following the tragic death of Sean P in August 2015. There’s a lot to unpack on “Rockness A.P.,” and the Monsta explains it all with sincerity and integrity. It makes for one of his strongest tracks to date, and only further builds the anticipation for his proper debut.

“Rockness A.P.” is the fifth instant grat track available for download off the iTunes’ pre-order for, Rockness A.P. The 14 track LP includes guest features from Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, M.O.P., Ras Kass, Kuniva (of D12), Ron Browz, and more, and is executed produced by Phil Anastasio (of Blood Before Pride). The album, which is due out Sept 22, is now available for pre-order on CD as well as through the digital retailer of your choice via Digital Déjà Vu Records.

Wallace - "Black Lake"

September 17, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Electronic

New Zealand born, Sydney based Wallace is back with another gem in "Black Lake". Co-written with Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe), the track is a love song laced with melancholy, which pushes the future-soul singer far out of her thematic comfort zone.

Based around a marimba-led melodic riff (harking back to her steel drum driven single " Raffled Roses "), "Black Lake" brings a dynamic, cinematic side to Wallace's usually upbeat soul sound. Live drums and soaring strings battle with gentle lulls and her exquisite, unique vocal - harking a wonderful growth and dexterity of genre for the jazz trained singer.

""Black Lake" attempts to capture the thoughts of someone who is in love and ready to commit to a person who isn't. After finishing the tune, I was re-watching one of my favourite comedies, The Mighty Boosh, and realised with all the water imagery we'd weaved into our story, we'd accidentally written the song from the point of view of Old Gregg. We hadn't landed on a title at this point so I suggested Black Lake, the home of the Baileys drinking, watercolour painting man himself." - Wallace

Wallace pushes with more of her quality brand of soul music, referencing the best parts of multiple genres to create an enticing sound that is irresistibly smooth, and possessing of a sophisticated sultriness.

THE STORY SO FAR

New Zealand has been a strong breeding ground for neo-soul artists over the years, with names like Kimbra, Electric Wire Hustle, and Fat Freddy's Drop all gaining international acclaim. With all that rich history filling her veins, the now Sydney-based Kiwi might just be the next in line to find success.

Wallace is a refreshing talent, whose music is a mosaic of jazz, blues, hip-hop and soul. Her trademark jazz-influenced, soulful vocal and magnetic presence are a marker of a dynamic artist who vibrantly creates music which showcases her absorbing vocals and clever songwriting. Her lyrics are often influenced by literature, evident through the intricate wordplay she weaves to create poignant stories.

Her talents have seen her working with Dutch legends Kraak & Smaak , Australian hip-hop staples Thundamentals , touring and creating with young Zambian born, Australian-based rapper Sampa The Great , laying vocals over beats by Adventures of Godriguez , and working closely with producer Simon Cohen (producer of Justin Bieber's global #1 Song “Love Yourself”).

Wallace has toured with Little Simz (UK), Lemaitre (NOR), Ngaiire, The Kite String Tangle, Kllo, as well playing to crowds at Australian festivals such as Listen Out Festival, Lost Paradise, St Kilda Fest, Hills Are Alive & Bigsound, to name a few.

September 17, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, R&B/Soul

Paris based singer, songwriter and producer Juliet Ariel makes an impactful introduction with her single ‘Take Me With You’, out now.

The self-produced track is the perfect tonic at the end of a streaming hot summer; laid back beats and Juliet’s future-facing R&B vocal making it an alt-pop/dance anthem.

Juliet was born in the DR Congo, but moved to France with her parents as a child. In recent years, Juliet has built a legion of fans on her social channels. Starting an Instagram account simply as a way of documenting her favourite clothes, she quickly built up followers and attracted the attention of fashion brands who asked her to model their latest collections. JOHN.k - "OT"

September 09, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Indie Pop

With depth that accompanies wisdom, the grit of anxiety and influences of yesteryear’s troubadours, enter JOHN.k: a singer-songwriter whose artistry spins on a luminous axis of voice and soul. Following his debut single, "Runnin," which premiered on NYLON in tandem with Spotify's coveted New Music Friday, JOHN.k teamed up with Mad Decent-signed and Grammy Award Winning producer Ricky Remedy and lent his vocals to the EDM-driven “Gold.” The song premiered on HuffPost with backing support from Diplo & Friends and Spinning Records Top 100, and showcases the best of both worlds: JOHN.k's chilling harmonies and gospel undertones propelled by Remedy's lush, electronic instrumentation and crisp sound.

Returning with his second original release, and 1M streams later, JOHN.k delivers the perfect end-of-Summer anthem in “OT” (overtime). A work ethic with ample payoff for whoever is on the receiving end of his soul-pop croon.

“OT is just the vibe! After making a couple darker tracks, I wanted to put something out that leaned more pop. Something brighter. Something totally different in contrast that didn't try too hard and could slideee right in at the end of the summer.

All of us have met someone that we wish we could spend one more day with. Maybe someone who has to go back to their normal life on the other side of the country. OT is about meeting someone from out of town and convincing them to stay for a little bit longer.“ - JOHN.k

“Wassup,

I go by CraigThe2nd, I From Denver CO.

I have been doing this only for 4 yrs. But just released my first official EP. “Poetry in the Field”

I’m the kid who looks at the world side ways, and scratches his head like, “this is it?”

so my music is one that is Conscious/HipHop. that Nas, Biggie, Wu tang, type shit get’s a dude inspired along with J. Cole and Kendrick.

New age music makes me close to sick and i’m 19 so you sense where I am coming from.

This song is about, me being in the field, ( Corporate America) working with all the other slaves, (America), But I stand up against the situation shed light on our struggles as a society, and question it all. Because we cannot be scared to stand tall and against life, and human kind because if every one had did this, none of us of us would be alive. The world is what it is because of risk takers.
