Rugby Wild - "Chickenshack"

November 01, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop

Rising fast on the West Coast hip-hop scene, 24-year-old Rugby Wild is the kind of artist who was born into his chosen profession: focused, innovative, and driven, he’s launched himself into the national spotlight with infectious tracks that mix fast-moving wordplay with world-class audio and video production. A young rapper who came of age on the avenues of Newark and New York City, Rugby pulls from his own streetwise stories to create high-energy songs with powerful rhymes.

It’s always come naturally to Rugby, and his newest track, “Chickenshack,” off of his forthcoming LP, Millennials, is a perfect example of how everything musical falls into place for the young artist. “Chickenshack” melds the smooth, sophisticated stylings of New York City living with the irreverent swagger of confident youth. The song tracks Rugby’s visits to the City, where culture, art, and an atmosphere of inclusion reign, back home to his neighborhood in New Jersey, where hustle and grit define a different side of life. The finished track, completed after Rugby’s move to Los Angeles, became even more impactful in post-production, when a cross-country move and a plunge into the city’s music scene fostered introspection and continued to develop the song’s unique energy, which unfolds over lilting, soulful production. “Chickenshack” projects the voices of Rugby’s East Coast friends out into the world, providing a space for their narrative to unfold.

“I bring originality,” says Rugby about the track and his new album. “So many artists are trying to make money off of what’s already proven to sell, but you can be original and still get noticed. In this day and age it’s ridiculous to think you have to do what everybody else does. I think my job right now is to be a collage, to show the industry that we don’t all have to do the same thing.”

RSXGLD (Ro Spit & 14KT) - "True" (feat. Royce Da 5'9", JMSN & DJ Assault)

November 01, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop

Ro Spit & 14KT - "True (feat. Royce Da 5'9", JMSN & DJ Assault)"

Before their much anticipated debut album arrives this Friday, RSXGLD (Ro Spit & 14KT) connect with fellow acclaimed Michigan natives Royce Da 5’9” and JMSN for a soulful new single, “True.”

There’s a deep and potent weight to the track, which stems from RSXGLD’s self-titled album, and it permeates through each element. JMSN, who appeared on lead single “I Believe,” sings his heart out on the chorus that pushes us all to leave the past behind us. And on their verses, Ro and Royce detail their respective come-ups and all they’ve been through to get to where they are today. As Nickel-Nine raps at the end of his bars, “A n***a had negatives but my positive just gon’ have to outweigh it/ N***a, I’m just happy I made it.”

“True” hits especially hard because of its musical elements, too, which are brought through the immaculate work of 14KT and guest DJ Assault. You may know Assault for being one of the forebearers of the electro-dance sub-genre of Ghettotech, and he brings that sound straight to the beat on here for track’s second half.

“True” represents a musical journey of so much that Michigan has to offer the world, and it’s one hell of a way to get ready for RSXGLD’s impending release.

Check out the track, and head over to the retailer of your choice to pre-order RSXGLD, which drops this Friday, Nov 03. In addition to Royce, JMSN and DJ Assault, the 12 track LP also boasts features from Denaun Porter, Elzhi, Ronnie McNeir and more, and will be available in all formats (CD, vinyl, and stream/download), via Fat Beats Records.

Splash Gordan - "No Way"

November 01, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Rap

Brooklyn rapper and entrepreneur Splash Gordan dives into the deep end on “No Way”

And there’s no way you’ll be sleeping on him much longer

Meet Splash Gordan, the 26 year old MC and owner of Think Mink Beauty Bar in Brooklyn. Though he may not have much music out at the moment, the two songs he’s released say more than enough about his talent, uniqueness and diversity than most rappers in the game right now. This single, “No Way” acts as a follow up to “ P.A.F ” which featured fellow Brooklyn artists Zeus Blanco and Jay Critch. While both tracks are insanely catchy, “No Way” gets much more personal and in depth, with lines like “when I see a nigga’s mama cry/cause his loved one’s traumatized/and he caught up in a homicide”.

Splash’s debut project, Destined 4 Darkness is set to drop within the next few months, but until then you can enjoy “No Way” and P.A.F”.

Cuebrick feat. The Future Is Mine - "United"

November 01, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Dance

Artists: Cuebrick feat. The Future Is Mine
Title: United
Label: Enhanced Music
Release date: 20 October 2017

Download / Stream

We live in a world where often our differences seem to outweigh our similarities, where humans are encouraged to be divided instead of recognizing the hopes, dreams, fears and struggles that we all share. Cuebrick's new track "United," in collaboration with The Future is Mine, serves as a heartfelt testament that music is the universal language to connect us all. Opening with soulful vocals over soft chords, the track rides on moving lyrics and cinematic melodies into the break, where a gospel choir delivers a goosebump-inducing chorus. Cuebrick and The Future is Mine formed an instant bond when they met and decided to combine their electronic and live instrumental sounds - and United was born. The decision to add the choir came after the track was finished because the producers still felt something was missing in the break. The artists wanted to create a raw emotional feel with real (as opposed to computer-generated) vocals, so they got together with the local gospel choir in Cuebrick's studio and recorded the stunning verses that are in the final version. The uplifting message conveyed in "United," combined with its expertly crafted production, give it a timeless quality that is guaranteed to delight crowds all over the world.

The DJ and producer known as Cuebrick first broke into the electronic dance music scene over 3 years ago with his debut hit single "Watch Out" topped the German dance charts at #1 for seven weeks. He earned international respect after a series of successful releases and remixes, like "Iceland" with Tritonal and his remix of Jochen Miller's "Head On" original on labels like Enhanced Recordings, Ultra Music, Mixmashand Armada. Cuebrick leveraged the talented band, The Future is Mine, for "United." The Future is Minebuilt their sound geared toward the rock audience, with a focus on instrumentals and raw vocals that can only be found in live music. Their music's mesmerizing melodies and meaningful lyrics have resounded with many a listener, and their producer has been featured on Gold and Platinum records. This past year, Cuebrick has performed at some of the world's best festivals, including Nature One, Mayday, Winterworld, Electric Love Festival . He is supported by industry heavyweights like Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Nicky Romero, W&W, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Aoki and more. Between his immense industry backing and his growing global audience, Cuebrick is positioned as one of the most promising rising talents in electronic music.

Misunderstood - "Ghetto Style"

November 01, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Indie Pop

British pop / R&B duo Misunderstood reveal their debut single ‘Ghetto Style’. The song was written by Misunderstood and Maegan Cottone (Little Mix, Britney Spears, Olly Murs).

Misunderstood are South East Londoners Stephan Benson and Jeff Okyere. The duo met while they were both at school, bonding over their love for music, choreography and their complicated childhoods. Although ‘Ghetto Style’ is their first proper release, the duo are no strangers to the limelight.

Having supported top pop acts like Boys II Men on tour, nabbed the Will.i.Am seal of approval and casually partied with Beyoncé in West Hollywood, Misunderstood have also attracted an impressive following on their social channels, simply through touring and organically growing a fanbase.

Their first gig at a Birmingham University fashion show, organised through a friend, had drawn in a large student crowd. They went on to play their second show in Germany.

Alongside recording songs like ‘ Sucker’ and ‘Imma Do My Thang ’ for their social networks, Misunderstood started producing and directing their own music videos – filming themselves as they travelled. Their fan base grew – and their dedication to their own marketing paid off as they accumulated huge numbers of fans on Facebook and even convinced promoters to let them support big acts like Chipmunk, Stooshe, DJ Fresh and Boys II Men on their UK tours.

“Our message is simple,” says Stephan. "It’s about being free to be yourself. It’s about being happy in you. It’s about having fun. It’s storytelling about the people who aren’t being shouted about. You’ll see and hear that in everything; the music, our style and in our videos. Our personalities and beliefs are bottled into our music.”

Jane XØ - "Let Me Down Easy" (with LöKii)

October 31, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Indie Pop

Jane XØ has revealed her new track, ‘Let Me Down Easy’ . The emotional song follows the release of ‘Love Me’ and its follow-up remix EP ‘Alternate Love’ earlier this year, and continues a series of incredibly high quality trap-pop productions which have left critics astounded and consistently questioning the identity of the artist.

Since emerging in 2016 with a mysterious Soundcloud account, and zero followers, Jane XØ has caught the attention of the electronic music community around the world. In her few public comments, Jane has expressed her wish to remain anonymous. “Being able to express myself musically without limits, no worries of judgement, no worries of success or failure.”

While speculation is rife about her true identity, one things remain certain - Jane XØ’s music is a surefire hit. Her feature with Mike Perry ‘Touching You Again’ has amassed over 17.5 million streams on Spotify alone, and with her own productions she she’s consistently climbed the Hype Machine charts as well as amounting millions of streams across all platforms.

In her ambient, floating signature sound, Jane XØ blends urban pop, world music and dance elements into an exotic, laid-back chill out tune in a class of its own. Danceable electro sounds, crisp staccato beats, warped tribal influences, and above all Jane XØ’s distinctive, sexy, goosebumps-evoking vocals.

What stands Jane XØ apart from other artists in her field, is that all ego has been stripped away in favour of purity in the pursuit of her art. Keeping the images behind the music and the vocals of Jane XØ completely anonymous – the wild, untamed emotion and passionate personality in the songs and performances take centre stage. Jane makes music that resonates and connects. She takes no notice of judgments and doesn’t worry about what critics might have to say. By doing so, the art and ideas are kept intact.

Song after song, Jane is all about bringing the truth to light. For her, the future is wide open, the possibilities are endless, and the music is what matters.

Hi-Fi Cali & The Prams - "Attention"

October 31, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Electronic

- The Prams are Jesse and Alta Keller, a husband-wife duo from Minneapolis.

- Hi-Fi Cali is a side project of Chris Bartels' Bora York, and he's been exploring different ideas of how to really differentiate the two projects - and featuring and collaborating with other artists and singers for Hi-Fi Cali singles is one way that's been happening.

- The Prams have been releasing a song every month this year - this is August's release.

- Hi-Fi Cali started essentially as an accident - a few random electro songs had been written, and when Bora York was unable to play a live show invite, Chris and drummer Bjorn played these few songs and a couple others, and turned it into a full-on project, experimenting and trying new things with every live show and in the studio with each single.
