undrgrndman - Long Way Away (1984)

May 11, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Electronic, Soul

long way away (1984) is trying to remember something you forgot...

  • ● The Story: The main character is stuck in a mundane existence, and enveloped in a cloud of oppressive pessimism (expressed musically as much as lyrically). Yet he’s struggling with a vague remembrance of better days (of blue skies)...
  •
  • ● Politically, the song is a critique of tactics used to obscure the past (to cloud our remembrance of better times) -- to limit expectations, and diminish hope.
  •
  • ● “1984” simultaneously references the better days of past, and the dystopia described in Orwell’s “1984”, which suddenly feels all too familiar...
  •

lyric excerpt:

grey skies above me again.
has it ever been different than it is right now?
and the wind is not a friend.
does it ever end? will it ever slow down?

about undrgrndman:

undrgrndman is a genre-bending storyteller & multi-instrumentalist musician based in Los Angeles.

● Rather than align to a specific musical genre, undrgrndman strives to tell a story with each song -- fusing traditional songwriting and dance music.

● undrgrndman records all of his music entirely on his own, playing every instrument (keys, bass, guitar, and drums) and singing every vocal line.

● undrgrndman’s roots are those of a live musician — he toured internationally as the synth player for p-funk (parliament funkadelic). He brings the spontaneity of live instrumentation (no pre-programming, no step sequencing on the keys) to all of his songs, whether electronic or otherwise.

I.Y.F.F.E x Paul Couture - Call Me

April 16, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Electronic

Brazilian bass producer I.Y.F.F.E (Pedro Alexander bka Alex Mind) and NYC based singer/producer Paul Couture connect on their forthcoming new single "Call Me." Fresh off of his previously released collaboration with Thai titled "So High (feat. Wiktoria Kolosowa)," I.Y.F.F.E. continues to evolve, with an indelible blend of Pop music and Future Bass with a dash of Trap. The record came about when Paul went down to Brazil to work on some tracks with I.Y.F.F.E where their undeniable chemistry led to a radio-friendly rollercoaster, with the aforementioned Couture delivering a hypnotic vocal with an instantly indelible tongue-in-cheek chorus.

PARC - 4U

April 01, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Indie Pop, Electronic

For Los Angeles' French artist PARC, Hollywood is a land full of narrative and desire. His latest release "4U" embodies the desires that drives so many dreamers to the west coast. Vividly depicting the indefinable city in splendid detail, he describes an afternoon drive aided by the blazing sun. With so much prosperity just within in arms reach, he describes a glowing landscape embossed with the desperation for success. Hoping to stand out among the crowd, he selectively contemplates how to score the girl of his dreams. Desiring what really matters after the glitz and glam, Parc seeks authenticity.A refreshing new release, "4U" is being released on Manimal Vinyl.

Louis Futon - Surreal (Feat. RKCB)

March 27, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Electronic, Downtempo

Louis Futo has a production style that brings out the most infectious performances of the vocalists he collaborates with, so it’s only fitting that his forthcoming single is in tandem with the ever-intricate duo RKCB (producer Riley Knapp and vocalist Casey Barth). Titled “Surreal,” the follow up to Futon’s 2016 smash “Wasted On You” (15 million+ streams online) is a dense, velvety smooth outing that finds Barth making it outright intoxicating with a sultry blend of pop and r&b sensibilities. In regards to how the track came about, Futon said “I wanted to create something really fresh and soulful with this one,” while RKCB noted “When we heard the track it was so immediate to us. We absolutely fell in love with the world it creates and just wanted to bring people in with us. It makes us feel almost out of control, yet entirely present and so in love with the moment.” Already having toured with ODESZA and released official remixes of artists like Anderson .Paak and ZHU, Futon looks to make 2017 a defining year after the release of “Surreal” as he’ll be embarking on a headline tour this spring with new tunes and fan favorites in tow (all confirmed dates below with more coming soon) after recently making appearances at festivals like Okeechobee and CRSSD. And as for RKCB, the duo are continuing to build on their streak of success, from writing and producing for Tinashe and Kacy Hill to playing Air + Style festival alongside Flume, Vince Staples, and Major Lazer (not to mention an upcoming slot at Chicago’s Mamby festival this summer alongside Futon).

The sky is truly the limit for Louis Futon and RKCB as their rise continues when “Surreal” drops March 13t.

Red Giant - Universal Daughter

March 20, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Electronic

"If you're still sleeping on New Jersey's Red Giant, then this new track may be the one to wake you from your slumber.

"Universal Daughter" is a heady, trunk-rattling trip through the dark corners of the galaxy. Foxanne's voice guides us home toward the light as Derrick Braxton's production challenges us to keep exploring the unknown." -Sean O (Indie Shuffle)

Jet 2 - What Just Happened

September 24, 2016 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop, Electronic

What Just Happened is a synth heavy 808 track produced in 2011 for the album "Unsigned Platinum" by Jet 2. This is a remastered version.

“I never let them tell me there are any limits,” says an enthusiastic Jet 2 in an in-house interview with Len Springs. Jet 2 discovered his passion for music at an early age through playing drums with his father Jerri Jheto, and listening to several genres of music growing up. Ultimately, this passion led Jet 2 to become the drum technician for Akon where he continually learned from experiences out on tour. Jet 2 began his passion for lyricism at Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, and his overall theme in his music is uncanny truth and confidence in sticking to what you believe in.
