Jen Miller - One Ride

April 16, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Indie Pop

About “One Ride”: This song is a story about a very hard day in Washington, D.C. on the anniversary of the passing of a close friend. I had a slight meltdown at work, proceeded to tell nobody, walked outside and all around downtown DC. When I got on the train, I saw the usual sights: people with headphones, cell phones, and tired expressions. I knew if my lil angel was given more time here on earth, he would have been enjoying his ride more than these folks. And for some reason, that gave me peace.
About Jen: Jen Miller is a Nashville-based indie recording artist, political activist, and the founder of Girl Gang Music — an online community and network of women + GNC folk within the music industry. An Ohio-native, Jen’s sound is a genre-bending 90s-baby indie pop mix. In May 2014, her first release "Overgrown" reached #8 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts, and her feminist anthem "Bullshit" is currently the theme song of Women's Health podcast "Uninterrupted". Jen has independently released three singles in 2017: “One Ride”, "Down" and "My Type", all produced by Jake Vicious, which have each been featured on Spotify’s top playlists. Malik Ninety Five - Need to Know

April 16, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop, Rap

New Orleans artist Malik Ninety Five has been on fire since he began prepping the release of his highly anticipated new album, The Paradise Project. And the excitement for that project only intensifies with “Need to Know,” his moody and melodic new single that’s sure to become an anthem for anyone who prefers working alone.

Despite the hook’s lonesome (and addictive) message of “Smokin’, plottin’, just doin’ things on my own,” the track is very much a collaboration with fellow NO artists CLBTS and Westline. Both artists co-produced the track alongside Malik, who again proves that his talents extend beyond the booth.

Clearly, the kid can spit and sings better than some cats who focus on one or the other, something we’ve already heard in preceding joints “Link Up” and “Right Now.” But there’s a darker, more thoughtful quality to “Need to Know” that makes it all the more unique and refreshing. Malik’s message of doing things on his own doesn’t come across as contrived or false, either. You instead get the sense that he’s been let down by those close to him—perhaps a relationship that went south—and wants to focus on getting his while he can.

“Need to Know” is now available through all major digital retailers and streaming outlets. Keep an eye out for more content in promotion of The Paradise Project, which is set to drop this summer!

Ric Rufio - So Wonderful

April 16, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, R&B/Soul
  • Sydney
  • Male solo artist
  • Second single - follows Rewind (Sketch) - currently available on Unearthed.
  • Premiered on triple j with Richard Kingsmill
  • Released via Mirror Records
  • Has previously performed as a backing vocalist and instrumentalist with Adele, Nick Murphy, Daniel Johns and Kirin J Callinan

it was during the crucial, formative years of Ric Rufio’s youth that he discovered his love of RnB. Drawn to the sentimentality and the earnestness of 90’s acts like Boyz II Men, Terence Trent D’arby and Sade, or the understated genius of greats like Donny Hathaway, Ric had found a sound that resonated within. It’s only natural then that it was this sound that would eventually draw him to start creating his own music.

Having landed roles as a backing vocalist and musician, performing with the likes of Adele, Nick Murphy, Daniel Johns and Kirin J Callinan, Ric began writing his own music, experimenting with sounds and discovering the natural ease he felt writing RnB.

The result, his debut EP, 'Rewind'. Channeling the sounds of his formative years, Ric Rufio takes the familiar and twists it to create something fresh and exciting. The first taste of 'Rewind' is the lead single, 'So Wonderful'. Assuming a minimalist's approach to the production, 'So Wonderful' sees Ric Rufio experimenting with modern electronics and classic RnB vocals, creating a debut release that’s intimate, dynamic and most importantly, catchy as hell.

This is just the beginning, but if 'So Wonderful' is any indication, 2017 is the year in which Ric Rufio makes his mark.

I.Y.F.F.E x Paul Couture - Call Me

April 16, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Electronic

Brazilian bass producer I.Y.F.F.E (Pedro Alexander bka Alex Mind) and NYC based singer/producer Paul Couture connect on their forthcoming new single "Call Me." Fresh off of his previously released collaboration with Thai titled "So High (feat. Wiktoria Kolosowa)," I.Y.F.F.E. continues to evolve, with an indelible blend of Pop music and Future Bass with a dash of Trap. The record came about when Paul went down to Brazil to work on some tracks with I.Y.F.F.E where their undeniable chemistry led to a radio-friendly rollercoaster, with the aforementioned Couture delivering a hypnotic vocal with an instantly indelible tongue-in-cheek chorus.

Wallace - Diaspora

April 16, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, R&B/Soul

New Zealand born future-soul singer Wallace is back with her first offering for 2017, "Diaspora". A collaboration with Sydney producer and vocalist Crooked Letter , "Diaspora" is created on a beat that samples Nigerian funk. Stemming from an exploration of his parents homeland, Jerry Agbinya aka Crooked Letter delves deep into African inspired sounds as Wallace sings of her own diasporic experience, with her Scottish father living in New Zealand.

"I wanted to highlight the connection that we both feel towards places where we didn't grow up", says Wallace on the track. "We bonded over the idea that looking back at our roots gave us a sense of affirmation and appreciation for what makes us who we are".

"My Granny Gollan has always joked that if my dad was any further away he'd be on his way back. Back being Dundee, Scotland, which he left when he was in his early twenties. So excited to have his beautiful voice make a sneaky cameo on the track."

Wallace is a refreshing talent, whose music is a mosaic of jazz, blues, hip-hop and soul. Her trademark jazz-influenced, soulful vocal and magnetic presence are a marker of a dynamic artist who vibrantly creates music which showcases her absorbing vocals and clever songwriting.
