Luca Chesney steals the spotlight with new single

Micky James - "Give It To Me Straight"

Taking influence from Brit rock legends, David Bowie, The Clash and The Rolling Stones, Micky James creates gritty glam rock’n’roll with pop sensibilities.

After touring the States with his previous band, the group eventually dissolved and James decided to focus on the formation of his solo project. The time spent performing in the band essentially helped sculpt the identity of his new project and developed the right ecstatic to correspond with the music he wanted to create. James’ ideology for this new project, was to craft something that felt spontaneous and true. Capturing a raw essence and breathing life into the recordings, James’ priority was to make music filled with honesty, passion and love.

Teaming up with Ditry Canvas's Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta (American Authors, Young Rising Sons) James’ debut single 'Give It To Me Straight’ bursts with unshakable energy. Featuring pulsating drum beats, driving bass lines and an infectious chorus, 'Give It To Me Straight' evokes charisma with a slight hint of danger through it’s playful lyricism. James reveals, "They say some of your best work or the best songs you write appear from the sky and happen pretty instantaneous....well I feel 'Give It To Me Straight’ felt like one those songs”.

Inspired by the authentic energy of 60’s and 70’s iconic rock band’s, James is successful in crafting a modern and fresh approach to a timeless genre, “I wanted to take pieces of nostalgia and give it a contemporary twist”, explains James. Successfully taking his vision and turning it into a reality, James’ music has been resonating with listeners.

Azusena - Better

Following on from her beguiling debut ‘Crosby’, Fiction Records’ newest signing, 23 year old British-American Azusena today releases the follow up, ‘Better’. The track, produced by Dan Carey, sees Azusena’s distinctive and captivating vocals weaving in and out of dense, absorbing electronica.  As with ‘Crosby’, the track has a hypnotic quality, linked to Azusena’s belief in the power of the Mantra, although where ‘Crosby’ lyrically tackled the theme of the ‘untouchable muse’,  ‘Better’ is about deep rooted insecurities and how they are affected by relationships with those around you, as Azusena explains;

“Better is a deep attachment to someone very close to you because of the way they understand you and your behaviour but all the insecurities you have are rooted from them anyway. “

Themes of colour and the energies they stimulate run throughout Azusena’s creative output. As with ‘Crosby’ she painted the artwork for the track herself using deep blues with hints of red provide the perfect aesthetic accompaniment to the track

"Better was one of the songs I painted the template to while listening to the song. Those were the colours that came to me. The words felt like an ocean scene".

Tigers Are Bad For Horses - Helium

Tigers Are Bad For Horses is an Indie electronic duo that blends lilting vocals with jazz influenced, multi-textured piano and production. Comprised of Mary Ellen Funke and Lyell Roeder, they hail originally from Washington, DC, but are now based in LA. We are releasing "Helium" via Proper Vibes , a DC based artist collective that we are a part of.

“Helium” is a song written about feeling weak. It’s about the realization that no matter how high your dreams may lift you, reality has a tendency to keep you feeling tied to the ground. But that realization can provide such relief because sometimes feeling grounded is needed, especially in a time that feels so lost in flux.

We wrote this during a heavily transient time in both of our lives and we think the music reflects that. Initially drawing from artists like FKJ and Lianne La Havas, “Helium” is an attempt to capture the essence of the instability that accompanies the change we all experience at some point. It’s meant to inspire, but also to remind us of our realities, which are often far from perfect."

Geoffroy ft. Men I Trust - Thirsty

Earlier this month (march 10th), Geoffroy released his album Coastline exclusively on Apple and Spotify. It quickly passed the 1M plays mark and Geoffroy’s album is steadily positioning itself as a 2017 must.

The track Thirsty is the third collaboration between Geoffroy and Men I Trust, who are real-life friends from Montreal. When Men I Trust sent the instrumental to Geoffroy, he was really excited and pulled of the vocals and lyrics in one day. The result is trippy, relaxing and sexy.
