Que K - Yaself (Reason LLC) [Review]

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Que sounds like a young man with something to say but he hasn’t quite found his voice yet. Yaself is filled with passion and some sharp lines but its not quite a smooth ride... quite yet. Having something to say is the hardest part of being an artist and Que has that in spades this record is just missing a little finesse and fine tuning. Give it time and we’re gonna be talking about Que.

Dvalor Ft. Jurdan Bryant, Xiolynn, RIVA - Fallen Angels [Review]

Rating: 4 out of 5

This is head nod music at its finest. This has that hypnotic yet effortless cool of a certain iconic New Jersey rap group with its slick yet heady bars and psychedelic looping beat. The sung moment of “I ain’t gon let you fall” is hits you in feelings you didn’t even know you had. *Chefs Kiss*

Mariposa4x Ft. Fluke - New Contra [Review]

Rating: 3 out of 5

This beat could play for 8 hours straight and my head would still nod just as hard. The hypnotic chopped & screwed hook is infectious and each rapper brings their A game on the verses. The record is far from polished which I think is part of the charm. It feels raw but smooth, untamed but never out of control. It sits in that rare space of turn up, chill house party & long drive... thats hard to do!

Leakzz - Wavey Again [Review]

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Quote me when I saw Leakzz just might be the future of UK Hip-Hop. He’s oozing swagger and confidence as he raps that pure coke white bravado. The chorus is catchy and the beat makes you feel like you’re on a yacht in Mykonos sipping Champagne. Standing out besides the songs features Leakzz sounds like a man amongst boys. So much of music is intangible and whatever that ‘thing’ is Leakzz has it.

Kourosh - Wolf [Review]

Rating: 3 out of 5

Hip-Hop is a universal and Kourosh is speaking it fluently on Wolf. The Persian rapper by way of The Netherlands sounds sharp, clever and dripping with star power as he skates across the skipping production. The switch to acoustic guitar and sweet singing on the outro shows Kourosh is a 360 artist and could be about to put his city on the international stage.

Kuttem Reese Ft. Ski Mask The Slump God - Black Forces [Music Video Review]

Rating: 3 out of 5

IYKYK... Black forces = A WHOOPIN’.

Reese and Ski Mask trade clever menacing bars over a beat that would be at home a Freddie Kruger mixtape. Black Forces captures the mythology of the Black Air and has both rappers sounding as sharp as ever. When you see the black forces coming... RUN!

Tyte x Wizz Havinn - Ask Around [Music Video Review}

Rating: 3 out of 5

I’m loving the revival of fun in Hip-Hop. This record just makes you feel good, and makes your shoulders bounce uncontrollably. The bars are dripped in swagger and flair with a host of tongue in cheek one liners. It’s chorus is so infectious you’ll be texting everyone you know to “Ask Around” about Tyte.

Professor Green x R.A x K Koke - Nervous [Music Video Review]

Rating: 4 out of 5

This record sounds like the most stressful moments of Top Boy rolled into one. Its mean, aggressive and scariest of all witty. Can you imagine a debt collector coming to take your knee caps off with a smile on this face? That’s what Nervous sounds like and I lot it. The UK is really having a strong moment in Hip-Hop and those familiar will know Pro Green isn’t a new kid on the block but a corner stone of modern UK Hip-Hop, and to hear him sound this inspired and sharp is exciting for everything UK.

Rins4 - Aim For The Stars [Review]

Rating: 3 out of 5

Rins4 is carrying Australia on this back. For a long time when you think Australian hip-hop you think Iggy... Rins4 is about to be at the front of your mind. The production is mean yet emotional, and Rins floats across it like a trap figure skater with poise and swagger. You can hear the hunger not only in the sharp bars but his tone. He’s rapping like not only he needs this, but his family needs this, his country needs this.

Talibando - Celebrity Status [Music Video Review]

Rating: 3 out of 5

Talibando flips Twista smooth romantic Overnight Celebrity in a gritty, street anthem filled with braggadocios lyrics and Detroit street ethics. “I ain’t Virgil but I really got it offa white” I MEAN!

2-6 Biggz Ft. Curren$y- Family As F**k [Review]

Rating: 4 out of 5

There’s a funny thing with music sometimes where it’s not always about whats being said but how it makes you feel and this record got me felling myself! Dripping in swagger and the type of cool only your older cousin seems to have, 2-6 and Curren$y trade fly bar after fly bar dripped in southern drawl and audio molasses. I think I just found the new pre-game anthem.

Vent - What It Feels Like [Review]

Rating: 3 out of 5

The production on this record is so hypnotic and effortless. Vent’s lyrics are equally as effortless as he oozes cool and lyrical prowess. This record feels like 1:13 am driving home after getting that first kiss you’ve been waiting for. Windows down, wind in your face... just cool.

NappyHigh x Raekwon x Westside Gunn - From The Projects [Review]

Rating: 4 out of 5

An ice-cold soul sample, gritty drums, Raekwon AND Westside on the same record what more could you ask for? Both Emcees bars are razor sharp and NappyHigh chopped the **** out of that sample. If this is any indication Nappy’s LP ‘Menace’ is about to be a masterpiece.

Guami x 95 Goldie - Mickey's Nightclub [Review]

Rating: 4 out of 5

Mickey’s Nightclub feels like riding in old school Impala but at the same time you’re wading through molasses. The sample is so syrupy and just pulls you under. The flows are laidback but still have fire and passion.

BOŸBAND GKFAM - On Purpose [Review]

Rating: 3 out of 5

Sometimes you just wanna ride around with your homies and feel like the s*** and nobody can tell you a thing. On Purpose reminds me of feeling invincible with your homies... feeling like the world is still your oyster. It doesn’t sound jaded. Its mean yes but still optimistic. Now excuse me while I cruise around LA to this with the homies.

MEL. The 8th - SHOVE!

Rating: 4 out of 5

Is there such a thing a melancholy mosh pit?...
This chorus is infectious and raw. The whole record is raw AF. The beautiful strings juxtaposed over IGNORANT drums is glorious. Excuse me while I go yell ‘SHE WILL NEVER LOVE ME BACK’ while a make more morning coffee and think about the one that got away.

Sycosis - Peoples & Folks [Review]

Review: 4 out of 5

THIS HOOK! Thats it that thanks guys *drops mic*. But seriously some times a hook is so catchy yet venomous it makes you wanna get reckless and amped. The record does everything I want a rap song to do. Paint a vivid picture of your perspective, hit hard AF and give me something so catchy I wanna say it without warning mid conversation. Next time someone asks me what I’m tryna do they’re getting “I just wanna hoop, I just wanna ball” rapped at em. I’m calling it now Sycosis is one to watch. Be sure to check out his LP Pre-Approved.

Inna Meth - Nine Time Out Of Ten [Review]

Rating: 4 out of 5

This record is hypnotic and feels like that soothing whoozy feeling of a good s****** trip. The flows are sharp, the lyrics are clever and this hook is made to be rapped back at Inna Meth with the mic pointed at the crowd. I’m loving this new wave of UK hip-hop finding its own unique voice. This record shows you don’t need drums to make ya head nod. Take a night drive and loop this up... trust me its worth the trip.
