Anarbor is back in a big way with new single “MIA”. Hearing welcomed influences of pop-punk from the band’s early days, this track is one of those that nostalgically bring you back to the romantic indulgence of teenage angst.
While the influence of early 2000s pop - rock is obvious, you also hear a sound that has expanded on this and that is crafted for today’s alt-pop audience. Taking a look at their massive onslaught of fans this sound transition is evident as their fanbase is still largely teens, only this time around the teens are of a different generation.
Staying current is an impressive feat for any band that had made their rise in a different decade. Anarbor’s impeccable ability to do this comes from the band’s mastering of dynamics and their obvious curiosity for popular music. “MIA” gives us subdued but steady drum and bass lines putting focus on the double guitar and Slade’s engagingly vulnerable vocals.
