Xiuhtezcatl - "Boombox Warfare" (feat. Jaden Smith)

March 04, 2019 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop, Audio Videos

The smooth bass lines and even flow of the track’s vibe is offset with Xiuhtezcatl’s woke and provocative lyrics. Jaden Smith undeniable lyrical prowess adds a stunning layer both sonically and lyrically. Jaden reflects back on the project and comments, “X Is One of my favorite artist of this generation and I’m honored to work with him every chance I get.”

Read and listen to the Complex exclusive premiere of “Boombox Warfare” here: https://www.complex.com/music/2019/02/xiuhtezcatl-jaden-smith-boombox-warfare. “Boombox Warfare” drops today on all streaming platforms and here[http://smarturl.it/boomboxwarfare]. “Boombox Warfare” comes out on the heels of Xiuhtezcatl’s debut full length album Break Free. Critically acclaimed by fans and critics alike, the new album has garnered support from tastemakers like Rolling Stone, Remezcla, I-D, Complex to name a few.

A progressive hip-hop artist at his core, Xiuhtezcatl splashed into the public eye as an activist speaking out on critical issues including climate change and Indigenous rights. His performance at and support of the Standing Rock movement made national headlines as Rolling Stone took note and named him one of the 25 under 25 Changing the World. He has become a voice for his generation, highlighted by his work with the Earth Guardians and his passion for youth empowerment. His work as an advocate for the youth and environment includes an address at the UNGA, TED Talks, interview by Bill Maher and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Currently, he is one of the faces and a spokesperson for Shepard Fairey’s + Amplifier’s #WeTheFuture campaign, and suing the U.S. government for violating our constitutional rights by perpetuating the climate crisis in the trial of the century – Juliana vs. the United States. His first book We Rise was published early last year.

Xiuhtezcatl will be touring with his band and performing fan favorites alongside new material. Audiences can expect to see live drums, strings, synth bass and Isa, his sister, on vocals. Live shows are high energy, guaranteed to leave audiences turned up and hyped! Check out the tour dates listed below or track them here.

benny mayne - "strangers" (ft. 24hrs) [Video]

December 07, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B

Following a slew of releases in 2018, Toronto-bred artist benny mayne unveils a new music video from latest collab with Atlanta lyricist 24hrson their track “strangers”.

The edgy video opens with his enraged and barebacked ex-girlfriend banging on the front door of his house. Both benny and 24hrs avoid letting her in knowing they’d “just crash and burn”in her fury. They then fall back into a dream-like state as they go on with their day, trying hard to get this girl off their mind.

benny had a breakout year, emerging onto the scene with his hit track “bounce”in January, and stayed on a consistent flow of sensual R&B-infused Pop records. After returning to the studio to experiment and evolve his sound, benny debuts an evolved version of his darkpop-infused-RnB sound with his new track “Strangers” ft. 24hrs.

Bassy is currently supporting KYLE on his North American tour. See the remaining list of dates below. Tickets are available now at www.marcebassy.com/tour.

Singer, songwriter and producer Marc E. Bassy made waves with his critically acclaimed 2016 debut Groovy People EP. Among a tracklisting of hits such as “Morning” and “Dirty Water,” it vaulted “You & Me” [feat. G-Eazy] onto the Billboard Hot 100 as the track generated 260 million-plus Spotify streams and achieved a platinum certification from the RIAA within two years. Hot on its heels, he dropped his first full-length, Gossip Columns, and landed yet another smash in the form of “Plot Twist” featuring KYLE. In the album’s wake, he co-headlined the Bebe & Bassy Tour alongside Bebe Rexha and launched his Gossip Columns Tour, selling out venues coast to coast. Along the way, the artist received widespread praise from Billboard, Complex, Hypebeast, XXL, Hot New Hip Hop, The FADER, Spin and many more. Positioned for pop supremacy with his forthcoming second full-length set for 2019, Bassy’s rise to the top is just beginning.

Miri Ben-Ari, the “Hip Hop Violinist,” Returns with New Single “Quiet Storm" [Video]

November 08, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop, Music Videos

Watch Official Music Video: https://youtu.be/2PgnD-LRjZA

Stream/Buy: Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Google Play, Amazon

From Her Full-Length Album, Dorel, Out February 2019.

Grammy Award-Winning violinist/producer/humanitarian Miri Ben-Ari returns with a Hip Hop masterpiece, the new single “Quiet Storm.” It’s a virtuosic violin performance dedicated to women’s empowerment that plays over a hard Hip Hop beat and the voice of legendary hype man Fatman Scoop. Celebrated as the “Hip Hop Violinist,” she shot the video at the birthplace of the genre, The Bronx.

Ben-Ari says, “This song is about me, being a strong woman, being myself, people say that I look ‘quiet’ but have a ‘storm’ inside me when playing the violin. ‘Quiet Storm’ is the first single on my comeback album, and I wanted to do what I do best: produce original music and bring it down Hip Hop violin style. I am humbled to represent and pioneer a musical genre that influenced so many musicians and artists.”

“Quite Storm” is the first single on Ben-Ari’s upcoming album, Dorel, out in February 2019. The title is her son’s name and in Hebrew it means God’s generation. It will be her first full album since the release of her debut album, The Hip Hop Violinist, which featured such stars as Kanye West, John Legend, Lil Wayne, Pitbull and more.

Originally from Israel, Ben-Ari has created her own unique music; a revolutionary fusion of classical, Hip Hop, Soul and Dance. The classically trained violinist, who once studied under the late classical master Isaac Stern, has helped sell millions of records by collaborating with other Grammy award-winning artists such as Jay Z, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Wynton Marsalis, Britney Spears, Maroon 5, Akon, Patti Labelle, Brandy, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson, and Armin Van Buuren. Her work on Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks” earned her a Grammy for Best Rap Song in 2004.

Ben-Ari has not been quiet since her previous album. She has continued to work on her own music and collaborate & produce with artists all over the world. She has a current hit single, “Baila,” with Diamond Platnumz, one of today’s top artists in Africa.

Miri Ben-Ari is more than just a musical talent. She prides herself on her humanitarian efforts as well. She is a Goodwill Ambassador of Music to the United Nations and started her own non-profit organization, the Gedenk Movement, dedicated to educate, raise awareness and encourage self-expression among youth about anti-Semitism, racism and their brutal consequences. Noted as an "Apollo Legend" by the Apollo Theater in New York City, she has performed for both the Clintons and the Obamas, taught children about the violin on Sesame Street, and played numerous high profile events including the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC.

Surreal - "Hello" [Video]

July 16, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop, Music Videos

Los Angeles emcee Jeremy Ian Thomas also known as Surreal is an emcee’s emcee guaranteed to be solidified as one of hip-hop’s clearest voices. We first heard Surreal on “True Indeed” a collaboration effort between the jazz duo Jay & Soulo otherwise known as The Sound Providers. Surreal’s ability to rock an entire album with no features, covering the bases and basics of life, immediately made him a standout.

It didn’t end there though, in 2006, Surreal released his sophomore project “Future Classic” with DJ Balance under the Hip Hop Is Music imprint. During this time Surreal had his hand in a number of records and albums collaborating with the likes of Ohmega Watts, Marco Polo, Braille, Future Shock, Sareem Poems and more. Years down the line we got “Pardon My Dust” a properly curated collection of unreleased content. After “Pardon My Dust” our hero seem to...disappear…

Here we are a decade later, but where has Surreal been? He’s been through film school and with that education, he’s actually directed videos for Denmark Vessey and Oddisee and Brands like Nike and Reebok to name a few. Now a full-time filmmaker, Surreal is fully aware of the transitions and transformation the music industry has endured. However the emcee who grew up in Tampa Bay Florida has been growing and evolving as well.

While we may not have heard a project from Surreal in a decade, he’s been creating this entire time and is getting set to release his “Hello”. “Hello” is a grand return for fans of Surreal, but also a proper reintroduction to people who might’ve missed the first portion of Surreal’s journey in music. With “Hello” right around the corner Surreal plans to show us the full breadth of his work, combining his video experience with his intricate and versatile wordplay to bring the listener an experience we need in these times like these.

Airplane James feat. Jay Worthy - "5FT" [Video]

June 17, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, Rap, Hip-Hop, Music Videos

Los Angeles has long been recognized as a hub of rap talent and it’s no different for rising star Airplane James, who just dropped a new single called “5 FT” featuring Jay Worthy.

The Diamond Lane Music Group rep has a classic LA banger on his hands with “5 FT,” complete with that signature Cali style and sound from both rappers, who make it clear to keep any drama at least five feet away from them.

The song is a preview of things to come on his latest project Plane Conversation, set to drop later this year. The visuals for the project stay true to the city too; taking viewers for a visit through both sides of LA’s infamous gang streets and also includes a cameo from Diamond Lane star Problem.

CMG Bosses are Feeling “Blessed” in New Music Video

June 05, 2018 by Guest User in Hip-Hop, Music Videos, Rap

Rap duo CMG Bosses (Catch My Game Bosses) have released the music video to their self-empowering and inspiring single “Blessed”.

Consisting of music industry experts AW and Sleep, the duo’s experience in production is clear in this incredibly well-produced track, featuring some reflective hard-hitting lyrics about the ups and downs of life. The duo expresses their belief that no matter how many times you get knocked down, you just have to get back up again, and persevere through it all.

Having been moved by recent tragic personal events, namely the loss of loved ones, CMG Bosses decided to write this track and film the accompanying video in a cemetery. The unusual choice in scenery compliments the track’s lyrics that are focused on expressing gratitude, and feeling “Blessed” to be alive, despite the undesirable things and moments life throws your way. The visual accompaniment makes us appreciate life for all that it is, and ourselves, imperfections and all. The video is also interspersed with clips of street violence, once again showing us that we should be grateful to be alive, even in tough times.

Everyone has a story to tell, as this track suggests, and CMG Bosses have created an exemplary video to tell their story. Keep up with the duo on Instagram and remember to always keep your head up.

Mankind Music Academy - "N.O.A.H" (Feat. Mighty Casey) [Video]

April 11, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop, Music Videos

Harlem hip hop duo ManKind commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas with the release of their album, Juneteenth (1820 - 1920), out today, Juneteenth.

Like their prior concept albums, ManKind keeps the lyrical content focused on the theme, delivering a compelling set about what life was like for Blacks living in Texas immediately before and after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.

“Sally Sue” (ft. SooFlyy) addresses the controversies of interracial dating. “Beneath The Flowers” (ft. Orunmila) shares dreams of freedom. “Spiced Redrum” suggests the psyche behind a slave rebellion. “Pledge Allegiance” questions expectations of patriotism amidst discrimination. The 10 songs include powerful, spoken word interludes and complementary, thematic production.
