Cheetah Bay - "100 Wrongs" [Video]

November 10, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Music Videos, R&B

"This singer-songwriter-producer was born and bred in New York but his music seems better-suited to the City of Angels. He creates a certain brand of soul that makes for a great soundtrack to summer days—or the day after the night before." Mass Appeal

"'100 wrongs' is the first song from my self-produced EP, detourism. It's the story of a young man striking out on his own, searching for his purpose and learning to be his own best friend. Coming to terms with regrets and missteps and ultimately finding redemption in music. Bradley Murray’s visual conveys the wandering nostalgia of the song and really depicts the lonely promise of Los Angeles just as i found it, coming here from NYC without a plan two winters ago." Mahalia - "Hold On" Ft. Buddy [Audio Video]

October 20, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Audio Videos, Music, R&B

Produced by Nana Rogues (Drake) and Jay Prince, “Hold On” is a perfect example of the truly relatable song writing that Mahalia has become so well known for.

The track; a rich slice of R&B and Pop-flecked jam, sprinkled with originality and pushed into the present day is quintessentially Mahalia – encompassing the classic sounds of the past while refusing to be hemmed in by one particular genre; her open-hearted lyricism holding it all together like magic dust.

"Hold On was a tune that needed to come out of me for a long time and it finally did when I stumbled upon an old flame of mine in my home town. It's a long story so I won't go into it... however, I originally wrote "Hold On" in the studio with Jay Prince. I then had a little session with 'Buddy' during his recent trip to London and he came at me with the geezas perspective...! Have a listen – hope you enjoy.”

Mahalia released her debut single “Sober” back in July, which to date has amassed over 2 million streams, and saw her grace the Berlin online platform COLOR’s last month, where her performance of “Sober” accumulated over 250k views in just five days ( link ). She subsequently sold-out her first London show and further announced a second at Hoxton Bar & Grill on Wednesday 15th of November – ( tickets here ). In addition, the songstress will be touring the UK & Ireland on a 9-date tour later this month – ( tickets here).

At 12 years old – the age most of us are aimlessly riding bikes or trying to avoid homework – Mahalia was picking up a guitar and penning love songs. With her entrancing, soulful tones, wise yet relatable wordplay and intuitive sense of melody, it quickly became clear that she had a natural sense of musicality, and that she’d be doing this for the rest of her life.

Now 19 and based in Leicester, Mahalia is ready to fully unleash what she’s been brewing for so many years into the world. In the time since she first picked up that guitar, she’s dropped a scattering of releases – from 2012’s indie-flecked acoustic dream “Head Space” to 2015’s gorgeously understated 4-track EP “Never Change” – and last year’s genre-flipping mixtape “Diary of Me”. But for Mahalia, it feels as if she’s just getting started.

Jordan Bratton - "Spaces" [Video]

October 12, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Music Videos, R&B

“We should be OK,” Jordan Bratton declares in the music video for his latest release, “Spaces,” a song from his forthcoming mixtape, Driver’s Ed, due out this fall via RCA Records. Directed by Ben Elias and James Dayton and shot in Brooklyn, the dramatic visual brings Jordan’s storytelling to life as he highlights people and their struggles.

“Deep down I never felt like I was good enough for anybody really. Always had many unrequited love issues that took over my outcomes with companionship,” Jordan says of “Spaces." There is something special about this video because it isn’t very theatrical, but it still has a theme of resolution. It’s one of the most heartfelt things I’ve seen in a while and I’m not just saying that because I’m a part of it.”

On creating the vision and directing the video Ben Elias adds: “We tuned more into the track’s airy, spiritual quality, and decided that we wanted to do something more abstract. We channeled that feeling into the character of the young boy, who holds this age-old wisdom, rather than childlike innocence'"

“Spaces,” both written and produced by Jordan, follows the previously released offerings “Pieces” and “Sunsets.” Hailing from Long Island, NY, the 22-year-old musician is fortifying the groundwork to be music’s next breakout star in 2017.

Mahalia - "Sober" [Video]

July 31, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Music Videos, R&B, Soul

Premiered by DIY Magazine earlier today, British songstress Mahalia has unveiled the hazy video to accompany her stunning first official single “Sober”.

“A hazy, booze-fuelled wander through the remnants of a house party, the video perfectly encapsulates that early morning wooziness” quotes DIY. The track; a rich slice of R&B that recalls the likes of Erykah Badu, Sade and Lauryn Hill, is sprinkled with originality and pushed into the present day. “I’m sorry that there ain’t no time left, you and I are over, me and you are done,” she sings, her warm tones melding into the illustrious, groove-laden beat, her words hitting straight to the heart. The track is quintessentially Mahalia – encompassing the classic sounds of the past while refusing to be hemmed in by one particular genre; her open-hearted lyricism holding it all together like magic dust.

“Finally! I've been waiting to share this with you and now I can! Here's the video for my debut single #SOBER. This story is totally about the morning after. Thinking about the night before - all the mistakes you made, all the muddled texts you sent. I always talk about how this song is a representation of realising a situation is not good for you and getting yourself out of it. This is me waking up and smelling the roses. Now that I am sober..."

Now 19 and based in Leicester, Mahalia is ready to fully unleash what she’s been brewing into the world. In the time since she first picked up that guitar, she’s dropped a scattering of releases – from 2012’s indie-flecked acoustic dream “Head Space” to 2015’s gorgeously understated 4-track EP “Never Change” – which was premiered on i-D – and last year’s genre-flipping mixtape “Diary of Me”, picking up praise from the likes of The Independent and MTV. In 2015, her unique voice caught the attention of Rudimental, who asked her to feature on their easy-going summer anthem “We the Generation”, pushing her name to a wider audience in the process. But for Mahalia, it feels as if she’s just getting started.

idesia - "Ain't Over" [Video]

July 20, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Music Videos, R&B

Electronic soul band idesia’s new single "Ain't Over" is a collaborative project between Chicago-based vocalist Sophie Dimitroff, LA-based producer Daniel Oldham and visual artist Kelsey Boncato . As recent college graduates, they acknowledge the difficulty of coming of age during turbulent times while sending a message of hope in this new song and video. The experimental animation follows a young woman who discovers strength in an internal world while daydreaming on a train. Dyed indigo hues and mandala kaleidoscopes hint at architectural plans or fingerprints, merging geometric and organic forms. With layered analog synths, bass, ethereal vocals, and optimistic lyrics, “Ain't Over” evokes themes of persistence, fortuity, yearning, and memory.

#LAOnLockExclusive: Rayven Justice - Why Me [Video]

May 22, 2017 by N3 On The Track in Music, Music Videos, R&B, Pop

NorCal's own Rayven Justice refuses to be boxed in by topic or genre, opting to carve his own lane with a hypnotic blend of R&B and Hip-Hop. The singer/songwriter has been making noise the last few months, with the release of his singles " Too Late ," " Between Your Thighs " and recently appearing on Mally Mall's " Purpose " featuring Rich The Kid. On his upcoming new single, "Why Me," Rayven cleverly croons about a fling with a girl, who has a boyfriend, and doesn't want to go back. "Why Me," sonically adopts the familiar Bay Area sound, with radio friendly, mid-tempo production. Rayven's shows a knack for catchy songwriting and choruses, blending genres with seamless crossover potential on his forthcoming new single.
