Mugun - The Sweetest Ting [Video]
Gaining a rep for delivering a biting flow over hip hop beats, Coventry rapper Mugun uses Lauryn Hill’s classic The Sweetest Thing instrumental to showcase his versatility with his latest offering. The late night visuals by Lukas. Co depict him embracing the night, with weed in hand, him and a few friends catch a vibe while the smooth acoustic-style beat sets the mood. ‘The Sweetest Ting’ is the title track from his up-coming ‘The Sweetest Ting EP’ which is chalked in for release in late Summer. The song acts as an ode to teenage love and angst on the block. Mugun explains:
“The Sweetest Ting is kind of like a diary if you get me... An expression of all the excessive paranoid thoughts you get whilst trying to push your teenage love affair to the next level but also at same time trying to survive through all the incidents and mistakes it takes to be a man in our day and age"
2016 was a breakthrough year for the young emcee, and after winning ‘Best Urban Act’ at the Unsigned Music Awards, receiving a Rated Awards ‘Get Rated’ nomination and having a track on SonyAtv/Reprezent’s sync project ‘Grime N Reason’, Mugun has been cited as one to watch this year by industry figures.
Spending much of 2017 in the studio refining new material, Mugun is now ready to drop a set of singles which will make up a full EP in late spring/early summer. Saga & Thelonious Martin - "Where We Live (Brooklyn)" [Video]
With their well received collaborative LP Molotov now available, the East Coast/Midwest tag-team of Saga and Thelonious Martin head to the rapper’s stomping grounds of Brooklyn for album’s debut video, “Where We Live (Brooklyn).”
Directed by Surf School’s Infamous Oz, the visuals put the heart of the BK on full display as the rapper-producer video hit up some of their favorite spots. That includes getting a lil’ grimy with the local cats at the legendary Gleason’s Gym and, of course, diggin’ in the crates at Black Gold Records.
Watching these two hit up Brooklyn landmarks together and just kick it, further proves their chemistry, which is on full display throughout the LP. Of course, anyone can hear that chemistry on “Where We Live (Brooklyn),” which boasts Saga doing what he does best (rap with a purpose) over Martin’s ill flip of Ethel Beatty’s classic, “It’s Your Love.”
Molotov , which boasts features from Freddie Gibbs, Fashawn, and Rapper Big Pooh among others, is now available for stream and download through all major digital retailers via Saga 718/EMPIRE. The record is also available on wax, in a limited edition smoke vinyl configuration, through Coalmine Records.

Scotti Bishop is back with a new single “Huey,” and it is nothing like the music you’ll find on the charts in today’s climate. Hailing from a small town just outside of Sacramento, CA, Scotti suffers from the same angst that any young person with ambition feels when they find themselves outgrowing their surroundings. “Huey” was written to express the sense of entrapment that Scotti deals with growing up in an environment where success is equivalent to graduating junior college and settling for the first job that pays slightly above minimum wage. As anyone who has heard the track can attest, the two multi-talented artists crafted a seriously catchy banger with “Let’s Get Lost.” The song balances the concepts of lust and love over bouncy electronic production, which actually serves as the pulse of these eye-popping visuals.
Super-talented visual artist GeD (peep his Instagram: @ged_kid ) is the man behind the video, which features some slick editing work and even more impressive animation. Beyond the creative nods to Lex and Hellz’ lyrics and instrumentation, GeD pieced together some scenes that will have any video game fan feeling some instant nostalgia. We’re talking references to Pac-Man and that damn dog from Duck Hunt, the latter of whom finally gets what’s been coming to him.
