#LAonLockExclusive - DMB DAI - Appealing [Music Video Review]

March 07, 2022 by Travis Erwin in Music, Hip-Hop/Rap, Hip-Hop, Commercial, Contemporary R&B

Smooth. No matter what else I write take the word smooth and let it glide over you as easy DMB DAI’s vocals flow through the air. ‘Appealing’ is the kind of easy vibin’ track that instantly puts the chaos of the world on the backburner and allows the mind and body to settle in on the ride.

The candid video helps drive that mindset home with an almost intimate voyeurism. The hook does the heavy lifting lyrically speaking but the track is all about beat and that silky rhythm. Given the video is shot with a party backdrop the tranquil intimacy is a bit surprising but that works because this track is all about focusing on the one that captures your eye and shutting out the noise surrounding you. It is about dialing in and enjoying each other with total disregard for everything else.

DMB DAi sells this with a calm, confident attitude and those seductive vocal tones. Still the track manages to convey a bit of fun along with the one-on-one vibes that gives the song its edge. The combination makes this a track you can add to that playlist dedicated to your lover, or simply as a nice slow jam to reflect on the better times.

#LAOnLockExclusive: Ryan Caraveo "Northend Sweetheart" [Album]

July 30, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Albums, Commercial
“It’s Friday and the last Friday of the month. So you know what that means?!? New Music!!!

We got a chance to experience an LA On Lock Exclusive with Ryan Caraveo and the Universal Music Group’s °1824. Caraveo’s talented journey has gone from making music in his closet, selling his music out his backpack to preparing for a tour and releasing his latest album “Northend Sweetheart”.

Through a lot of independent work and struggles with depression Caraveo focuses on organic and vulnerable rap. He stresses showing the softer side of things without sugar coating it. Ironically there is a track on the new album called “Sugarcoated”. He can’t take the sugar coating anymore and neither should you. In attending the conference it was his honesty and transparency of letting everyone know yes he is a rapper but he also isn’t much musically trained. He doesn’t know how to play many instruments and often vibes on what sounds good to him in opposed to what you want to hear. He may rap then he may sing but as you take a listen to his latest album you will not only hear the difference in mood but see the difference in the song titles. Caraveo just isn’t known for having sold out tours for nothing, he proves it an every project, visual , and interview he releases.”

#LAOnLockExclusive - Madison Cunningham 'Wednesday' [EP]

November 18, 2020 by Kreadiv Kesh in EP's, Commercial
“Since it’s Wednesday there is no better day to tell you about Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and guitarist Madison Cunningham’s new covers EP, ‘Wednesday’.

Usually an artist will visually record themselves singing covers and upload them onto social media. However, Madison started recording covers for some of her favorite artists last year as her way to stay inspired both in writing and performing. She explained in a virtual °1824 conference that the hardest part for her with doing covers is not to botch it. She always wants to preserve the sound but also add her own personal sound to it as well.

The EP ‘Wednesday’ features covers of songs from the following:

1. Hold On (Tom Waits cover)
2. The Age of Worry (John Mayer cover)
3. In My Life (The Beatles cover)
4. No Surprises (Radiohead cover)

During quarantine it was mainly her and her boyfriend (Guitar) so she started to do covers to express how she was feeling and to find comfort. She goes to explain that she chose these four songs because they were relevant to what was going on this year with the pandemic and social distancing.

The California native was seen full of excitement not just for her EP release but the excitement of turtleneck season and it being a little brisk of chill in California. As she smiles with inspiration and a love for her craft her advice to others is to never be afraid to bring what you have to the table. Don’t shave your ideas.”

#LAonLockExclusive RIELL - First [Music Video PREMIERE]

April 22, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Electro Pop, Commercial
“LA on Lock is proud to PREMIERE the new video from RIELL’s latest single ‘First.’ The emotional track comes with imagery to match and the performance is wrought with as much feeling as it is pure talent. ”
— Travis Erwin (LA on Lock Blogger)

‘

First’ is the 3rd single to be released from RIELL’s debut album PARADISE which will be out in October 2020.  Following the release of ‘Stubborn' and 'Control of Me', the ‘First’ video is the 3rd in a series of 5 connected videos filmed in Toronto. The project was written and developed over a period of two years while touring around the world, coming to fruition in places like England, Costa Rica, India and Canada.

"I wrote ‘First' at the end of summer one week after I moved to England for a semester abroad in my tiny dorm room on an old, beat up guitar I bought at a second hand store for 10 pounds,” says RIELL. "I was changing everything about my environment, so I was inspired to think about altering my perspective on past and future relationships. Instead of asking if I was good enough for somebody, I wondered what it would be like to ask if they were good enough for me. The music video concept is about growing from past mistakes and lessons, as shown in the ‘Stubborn' and 'Control of Me' videos prefacing it, and ending up somewhere better because of it. The video jumps from flashback clips from the past 2 videos, as well as foreshadowing clips from an upcoming video, to shots of some of the most beautiful places I could think of: an altering of perspective.”

March 09, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Commercial

Live @ Notting Hill Arts Club London, 19th March 2020

New York native Frankie Zulferino is poised to announce a brand new release with the arrival of ‘Say Less’, a buzzing, spritely pop jam packed with catchy choruses, old school disco influences and basslines that capture the ever increasing energy of today’s pop culture. Frankie details the track: “Growing up in New York my mom always loved disco music, she constantly had it playing in the car. Since then, it’s always been one of my favorite eras of music, there is just something about the energy and mood that makes you feel alive. When I went into the studio to work on ‘Say Less’ I wanted to bring that feel good joy back to music, infused with my own style and direction. It also features a dance break in the bridge which was super important to me, because dance is a huge inspiration in my music and my life!” Frankie Zulferino is a pop singer and performer based in New York. To date, Frankie has opened for artists such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Westlife, Jason DeRulo and more. He has previously toured across the United States, China, Canada, Europe and performed at New York Fashion Week in 2017. He was also a contestant on The CW show, 'The Next', where he was mentored by Joe Jonas. Outside of his music career, Frankie is a choreographer, whose work has been featured on America’s Got Talent and more. He will also be appearing in the up-and-coming Netflix original movie, “The Fifth Boro.” Frankie has also produced and directed his own sold-out show at the Mohegan Sun Resorts Casino in Atlantic City.

#LAOnLockExclusive: Volunteer - "My Everyday"

February 19, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, Commercial

Be one of the first to hear Volenteer’s new single, “My Everyday.” The tracks officially drops February 21st, but LA on Lock brings you an exclusive premier of the track days early.

The music video for this song will release March 17 and in October 2020 comes the release of Volunteer's highly anticipated, debut full-length album. Check out or thoughts below and give the track an early listen.

“Raise your hand ... because it is time to Volunteer!

Yes, the band’s name is Volunteer, and yes, their latest track is one you should be listening to.

’My Everyday’ is about the deepening threads of love as a couple stitches together their life. The track has a timeless feel and is tough to pin down to a single genre.

Delivering hints of 80’s Pop in the melody, a bit of the 90’s emotion to the vocal performance, and lyrics that are fresh and alive, the overall track is decidedly contemporary. This is a single that will appeal to couples of course, but as flat out good music you don’t need to be on the throes of love to appreciate the melody and performance.”
