lovelytheband - day run out [Music Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Alternative, Pop, Indie Pop

Rating: 4 out of 5

“After making a splash with their hit ‘nice to know you, Alternative-Pop trio lovelytheband is back with a follow up single called ‘day run out.’

This lead song from their new album due out August 23rd delivers a nice calm sound and build. The smooth groove and vocals are easy to digest and sing along with. ”

Paris Pick - Get My Baby Back [Music Video Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Soul, Indie Pop

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Paris Pick is the Yukon’s Pop princess and this Retro Soul track will only add to her star power. ‘Get My Baby Back’ is delivered in a sing song vibe that certainly has influence in the doo wop era but the this track, about dealing with the losses life hands out, still manages to feel fresh and contemporary in style. ”

Tessa Dalton - You See Me [Music Review]

August 03, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Indie Pop

      Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Sometimes what we need us right there under our nose and yet we have a hard time seeing it. Tessa Dalton gives us a beautiful piano ballad about realizing the love she’s been searching for has been right there beside her all along.

’You See Me’ is about realizing that person locked in the so-called friend zone is the one that truly knows who you are and the one you can depend on but of course we all suffer from the grass is greener phenomenon that leads us to go for the wrong yet extic choice before we learn our lesson that different isn’t always better. ”

Tamar Berk - Good Impression [Music Review]

August 03, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop, Alternative, Rock

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“It is always important to make a ‘Good Impression,’ but then again sometimes you just have to be yourself and let the truth land. Tamar Berk plays around with this idea with a lot of fun and energy on her latest single. The San Diego native has a throwback sound that would be right at home in the Pop landscape of the late 80’s. ”

Fiona Grey - Beer Drunk Glory Days [Music Video Review]

August 02, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Indie Pop, Electro Pop, Commercial

          Rating: 4 out of 5

“Fiona Grey was voted LA’s Best Pop Artist by LA Weekly back in 2018 and time has only honed her skill and craft as both a songwriter and a performer. The imagery of this video is as powerful as the writing, and the emotional journey of this track is one that you can feel in every note. Grey is a star, but one that clearly is patient enough to do it her own way.”

Vilhelm Buchaus - Break My Heart Again [Music Review]

August 02, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Indie Pop

            Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Sometimes we struggle to let go and move on. Vilhelm Buchaus takes on this dynamic of returning time and time again to a doomed relationship simply because you can’t quite get the other person out of your mind. This tender and heart wrenching singer/songwriter type of song drips with the emotion and anguish of knowing it will never work yet feeling you have to try one more time. ”

Fake Dad - Crybaby [Music Review]

July 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Alternative, Rock

              Rating: 3.5 out of 5

“Fake Dad is an LA based Pop Synth duo that has an Indie Rock vibe with just enough Pop Punk influence to add a razor edge to the sound.

’Crybaby’ is about the pursuit of fleeting fame and how desperate society has become to snatch their fifteen minutes. The track delivers a nice energy and spark and I can’t wait to hear more from this talented duo. ”

Gray Hawken - GOLDEN STATE [Music Review]

June 26, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop

                Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Learn the name Gray Hawken. Store it in your brain because Hawken is about to blow up. The torpnto native has already made his mark in LA and beyond by working alongside the likes of Jack Harlow, Shenseea, Alessia Cara and Preme. His collab with Alejandro Sanz landed Hawken a Grammy in 2020 but now he’s launching his first solo effort.

’GOLDEN STATE’ is a melancholic Indie Pop vibe that lives and breathes in the emotional space of humanity. It is a track to feel as much as to hear and Hawken is the kind of artist you trust to deliver truths about us all even when they hurt a little bit. ”

Fast Money Music - Space Opera [Music Review]

June 17, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Electronic, Indie Pop, Electro Pop

                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Riding a nostalgic 80s vibe at times, Fast Money Music, launches ‘Space Opera’ into orbit, and the fun offering is one with some true gravitational pull.

New Wave synths, horns, an indifferent brand of attitude and defiance permeates the entire thing. Unique in all the best ways this track is simply a vibe start to finish.”

Holly Blair - Baby Girl, He's So Boring

June 03, 2024 by Kreadiv Kesh in Indie Pop

                    Rating: 3 out of 5

“The talent is there. The vocals open up a warm and cozy feeling. However, it leaves you on edge the way the drums speed up mid point. Around the last 10 minutes the artist seems to disappear and allow the band to play. This leaves a listener like me wondering what happen and wanting closure. ”

Zoë Vera - Don't Make It My Fault [Music Review]

June 01, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Singer/Songwriter, Indie Pop

                      Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Heartbreak is one of the cornerstones of songwriting, with untold songs written on the subject, and yet talented artists like Zoë Vera continue to dip into this emotional well.

’Don’t Make It My Fault’ is about love gone wrong but Vera’s manages to give us a vulnerable and tender song without delving into the anger or jaded skepticism often found in such songs. Her vocal range and emotive delivery is impressive and this song has a haunting quality that makes you want to give her a comforting hug afterward.”

“People have problems but they choose to keep dealing with those problems through a bottle. They get wasted for an hour just for their problems to still be there. That 30 mins - hour escape helps them but hurts their love ones. Dax and friends touch each point of view, excuse, and battle with this track. The fact that this is a 10 min song shows the power alcohol has in people lives.”

Tiger La Flor - hollywood cemetery [Music Review]

May 30, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop, Alternative, Pop

                          Rating: 4 out of 5

“The allure of stardom and fame has led to more than one tragic death and for some like Marilyn Monroe those deaths serve to fuel the legends and desire for everlasting mortality in the name of star power. Tiger La Flor utilizes this in her latest single, ‘hollywood cemetery.”

The track has an epic feel with hints of nostalgia sprinkled in both the lyrics and musical style. This Pop leaning track has an air of mystery and allure capturing the glory as well as the guts of a storied past.”

Shane Rennison - I Think It's You [Music Review]

May 25, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Adult Contemporary

“The writing and premise of this track caught my attention and held me for the duration. I did crave more vocal variation from Shane Rennison on the track as the delivery stays with that one melancholic tone for the duration.

At its heart, ‘I Think It Is You,’ is a breakup song or at least one of self reflection that is going to lead to a breakup. Realizing the person you thought could be a long-term partner isn’t the one is a tough call and an emotional one a we first have to admit we were wrong in our original assessment. ”

                              “Pure unadulterated fun!

Tom Mackell has a good time calling out his own behavior, and the honesty, along with his emotive delivery sells the track with ease. The melody is light and the tempo carries the listener along like a nice summer breeze.

This is a good little everyman kind of ditty, that will stick in your head long after the final note. ”

May 17, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop

                                Rating: 4 out of 5

“A slow-tempoed jewel, ‘Thank You,’ from Matt McKnzi simply latches on to the psyche and refuses to let go.

Soulful and emotional, this Indie Pop track definitely takes the listener for a melancholy ride, but the midst of this the track has a uplifting gratefulness that recharges the soul.

Sit back and enjoy the emotions as the track washes over you.”

Vilhelm Buchaus - Snow In The Summer [Music Review]

“This track comes in with a retro 80’s vibe. Not quite Hair Metal, but more like a Springsteen, Bon Jovi kind of energy and old school rock style that provides instant nostalgia. Beyond that, Vilhelm Buchaus infuses passion and talent into ‘Snow In The Summer,’ that keeps you glued in for the build and climax of the track. Along the way the song started to feel more contemporary for me though truthfully it delivers what I’d consider a timeless sound.”

LennyTunes x prettygood! - Inner Child [Music Video Review]

“I really liked the strong writing and vocal talent here thought he production got inthe way of the experience for me at times. THe emotion and songwriting speak to me but the embellishments and various backing vices took away in places.

This is a thinking, pondering track that reveals its layers slowly, so give it a few listens and settle in with your town thoughts. The visuals of the video compliments the vibe quite well.”

EDIE - Lie to Me [Music Review]

April 29, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Alternative

                                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Coming with a Pop Punk sound that has notes of 90s Grunge, EDIE unleashes her anger with ‘Lie To Me.’ Razor sharp lyrics cut to the bone in this break up anthem and EDIE’s vocals sell the anger and emotion start to finish.

This track is perfect for anyone going through a breakup or needing that reminder about the liar in their past. ”

Celine Love - Nude [Music Review]

April 26, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop

                                        Rating: 3.5 out of 5

“My biggest knock here is I wanted more. Celine Love offers up a haunting and vulnerable set of vocals on this track that elevates her talent and demands listeners take notice.

’Nude’ is a track that is laid bare by the performance and you can feel that in every single line.”
