Misty Boyce x Doe Paoro - The Clearing [Review]

May 02, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock

Rating: 4 out of 5

“This Indie Rock song is absolutely meticulous. The vocal pairings are perfect, and the production spot on. From the backing to the melody, there are no missteps on this single. Lyrically the track is an emotionally heavy take on what comes next for our society in regards to the awakening of sexual assault and gender inequality. This is a thought provoking track that is also artistically captivating.”

Miscellaneous Productions x Natasha Pheko - Refuge [Review]

May 02, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Contemporary R&B, Rap

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“I like the energy and spirit of this track, and those elements were what caught my attention first. This single would make a nice addition to your motivational playlists, no matter if you are headed to the gym or trying to rebuild a new life after a detour. The vocals are uplifting and the lyrics, while not complex, convey the message of hope and renewal and strength very well.”

      Grace Davies - Amsterdam [Review]

May 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

      Rating: 5 out of 5

“Offering a fresh contemporary spin on the classic song ‘Jolene,’ Grace Davis gives us this soaring and beautiful ode to jealousy.

Gliding along on the emotion, the song builds into a haunting ballad of fear and loss. The fact ‘Amsterdam’ is a place and not a person makes the helplessness of the situation feel all the more acute in that we realize how little control any of us have when it comes to the wants and desires of another person.

This is a song that makes you feel, makes you think, and makes you lose track of everything else around you. In other words, this is a great song.”

Kellie Rose - I'm fine [Review]

May 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop, Singer/Songwriter, Commercial

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“Kellie Rose engages with her vocals, which build and accelerate to pull you in and along as she sings about being fine when you actually are anything but.

’I’m Fine’ is what we say when we don’t really want to talk about our true thoughts and emotions, so it is ironic that it is through that phrase that Rose truly does express herself here. The energy of this track makes it stand out and worthy of notice. ”

          Stevie wolf - Ink [Review]

May 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Indie Electronic

          Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“The honest genuine emotion of this track comes through immediately. Ink is a softly delivered ode to the scars we all bear, but to truly get a sense of the songs heart I defer to the artist ...

Stevie shares, “This song is kind of a mix between a love song and a fear song: afraid of falling in love, afraid of being too emotionally scarred for someone to love, thinking about the different kinds of marks and scars that we carry with us from the past. My ex was all tatted up, and it got me thinking about how maybe we’re all tattooed, but some of us on the inside. To me, this song was kind of written in an act of self-care and confession. Like I was in this relationship and carrying around these anxious thoughts in my head, and the song just came out in a flit of inspiration.”

The quiet guitar backing and the vocals style combine to be a tranquil elixir for the soul on this single.”

Lorenzo Wood - More Than Friends [Review]

May 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, Commercial

            Rating: 4 out of 5

“Lorenzo Wood offers a track of hopeful promotion from the friend zone — to something more.

’More Than Friends’ is a soft Electro Pop track with a brief interlude of sultry saxophone to add to the musical layers and production. The emotion of the lyrics is real, and Wood’s performance is genuine as you can feel the plaintive hope in every word.”

The Customers - Lost The World [Review]

May 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Alternative, blues

              Rating: 3.5 out of 5

“A rocking Blues number, that delivers a hard punch musically. The vocals lean to a spoken Blues style, but for me it was the hard edge of the music that kept me listening here. Something tells me this band is one that puts on a must see show on stage and I hope they venture down to Southern California so that I can see them live for myself.

Rock and Roll isn’t dead but it is hard to find and The Customers out of Oakland, California are hell bent to keep the sound alive and well. ”

                dezabel - Tattooed [Review]

May 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Singer/Songwriter
“A beautifully performed song about the longing of grief, and the swelling pride of love. The track is drenched with emotion, but not in an overly sentimental way for the sake of sadness, but in a realness that never delves into the morose thanks to a lively musical arrangement and the talented spirit of the vocal performance.

True loves leaves a mark long after it is gone and that truism is at the heart of this track.”

                  Rating: 3.5 out of 5

“Both set of vocals on this track deliver verve and emotion. The track has an energy about it that hooks you very early on, and holds you. With a touch of wry humor behind the lyrics, and a smooth groove musically that carries you along this single is entertaining by any definition. This short track is one where the lyrics build well off of each other, and the talent behind it makes it a fun listen.”

Lost Stars - All I Know [Review]

May 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop, Electro Pop, Commercial

                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“This is an engaging Electro Pop track about cutting ties to that on again/off again relationship.

Cutting that bind with someone who wants to be involved only when it is convenient to them is a tricky maneuver, because those people are often manipulative and skilled at their deception. This track is about finding strength, and perhaps it will speak loudly enough to others to give them the courage to finally break free, but even if you are not in this situation the single is lively and entertaining and delivers relevance to the modern dating world.”

“There is a definite poetic feel to the vocal flow on this one, but that fact worked quite well as the writing is superb and the emotional build well worth the ride.

Fear has spoiled things for us all at some time and this ode to overcoming these dubious thoughts is uplifting and sobering. The truth of this track offers a strength we all need on occasion. ”

LU KALA - Want You [Review]

April 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Neo-Soul, Electro Pop, Commercial

                        Rating: 4 out of 5

“The unique timbre to LU KALA’s vocals are the first thing I noticed on the track. Then the well-wriiten lyrics captured my attention. ‘Want You’ is a track about a relationship not delivering what she needs, and yet the allure and desire is still, illogically present. The performance sells the emotion, while the beat and melody offer an energetic vibe giving this track a well-balanced allure of its own.”

Our we made of ‘Stars & Marmalade?’ ... Who knows, but I am certain this Indie Rock track is made of talent and that this is a track that had true life for me. ”

“There is a definite old school vibe to this track, but it is not a pure throwback as the evolution of the genre comes through the production as well.

Len Bowen’s flow is steady and passionate in a low key kind of way, and Katya offers an engaging backdrop with her sweetly alluring vocal tone. Lyrically, the track is a quiet manifest of sorts. A marking of territory for Bowen almost. ”

The vocal talent of Jessica Shy is soft and alluring and the beat progression works to build the energy on this track to give it an overall tangibility that makes you want to move and sing along. ”

                                Schmolbowl - Long Flight [Review]

April 27, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Soul, Rap, Hip-Hop, Conscious

                                Rating: 4 out of 5

“Schmolbowl drops a tranquil and trippy flow on ‘Long Flight.’ With a rapid delivery and strong writing that overlaps and surprises at every turn, the track has an energy that envelopes you and makes you lean in close to hear what is coming next. The chorus has a nice hook and the track as a whole shows a good range of talent so I can;t wait to see what else comes from Schmolbowl on down the line.”

Cyrena Wages - River Bends [Review]

April 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Soul

                                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Cyrena Wages delivers a genre bending vibe on this track about being at the crossroads. It is no surprise that The Memphis, TN, native chooses to tie this to the river instead of the road, but the premise is the same.

There is a bit of honky-tonk angel to this one, as well as a some gospel infused soul in the sound. The important thing is that you recognize Wages incredible talent as both a performer and a songwriter. ”

Stephanie McCourt - Save Me [Review]

April 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Jazz, Soul

                                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“This track has a lot of things to offer the world, but at the top of that list — is Stephanie McCourt’s soulful vocal power. A little Christina Aguilera and a little Aretha, McCourt certainly has the chops.

The early vibe is jazz fused, but then there is a Hip-Hop beat that at times put me in mind of classic Tupac. Lyrically, the single offers a good hook and the energy here is undeniable.”

                                      Devtrax - Vibe Check [Review]

April 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Trap, EDM

                                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“This hard hitting track has an Industrial feel with its fast progression and raucous feel. The build is intriguing, and the beat spoke to me.

Classic Trap EDM grind to this track that feels simple and engaging, which seems like an easy feet to achieve but certainly is not as evidence by the very few submissions within the genre that actually speak to me. This one rises above the fray for sure.”

Medusa - Man Like That [Review]

April 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Contemporary R&B, Commercial

                                        Rating: 4 out of 5

“Smooth and soulful like far more music used to be. The vocals drop in with a heavy dose of want and sensuality, whereas the lyrics are more about the hopes and dreams of what she is looking for out of a relationship. The R&B groove is infectious and grubs you start to finish giving this track an allure that is pleasing to the ears and mind and impossible to escape.”
