Rightfield - Birthday Party [Review]

May 07, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Alternative, Indie Pop

Rating: 4 out of 5

“Far too often our pasts are there to confront us. Be a memory or an actual sighting of the person that takes us back and leashes that floodgate. Here on this timeless track from Rightfield, the jolt arrives in the form of a ‘Birthday Party’ with the forced social awkwardness of encountering an ex for the first time.”

    Vi - Sleep Through [Review]

May 05, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Vi comes in with her emphatically emotive vocals that hook your emotions right from the start. This is a slow building and brooding track that mirrors the way our minds tend to build and process pain and turmoil. ‘Sleep Through’ unfurls with a deliberate anguish that speaks to the heart, or at least a broken heart. ”

David Davis - Better With You [Review]

May 04, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music, Music Videos, R&B

      Rating: 4 out of 5

Life can be full of ups and downs. No matter the downs if you have that special someone it gets better and better. David Davis’s new single 'Better With You' is an energetic track that leaves you optimistic of what is to come. The chorus background electrifies the song and his energetic tone.

YFL LC - No Mo Parties (Freestyle) [Review]

May 04, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music Videos, Music

Coi Leray’s “No More Parties” is another song that took off as a background song on TikTok. After the original single released earlier this year, it has since been followed by a remix featuring Lil Durk and a combination of freestyles circulating the internet from artist like K Camp and YFL LC.

YFL LC “No More Parties” (Freestyle) actually sounds better than the original in my opinion. He delivers a tone that is chilled but will have you vibin to it. In what is usually expected to have an entourage video YFL LC displays that he knows how to roll solo.

malleus incus stapes - Seven Year Storm [Review]

May 04, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Alternative

          Rating: 4 out of 5

“If a classic, prohibition era speakeasy had a sound, this track would be it. ‘Seven Year Storm’ is a bluesy, jazzy, Indie rock ride through hard times and an IDGAF attitude. This offering isn’t as commercial sounding as much of the music we feature on LA on Lock, but something about the spirit of the song spoke to me.”

Kai Straw - Bleeding Out in the 415 [Review]

April 30, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Soul, Contemporary R&B, Alternative

            Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Hailing from the Bay Area, Kai Straw has the kind of voice that refuses to let you turn away. Raw and vulnerable, while still holding a dark edge, this track unfurls a mesmerizing story. If the movie Sin City was smashed together with The Weeknd along with some kind of dark-side Flume, they’d sound something like this. This is the kind of song that will stick in your mind long after the last note has faded.”

Natalie 2V - Black Heart [Music Video Review]

April 28, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Music Videos, Commercial

              Rating: 4 out of 5

“The writing seduces you in, and then the dark sultry vocal tones sink their fangs straight into your neck. ‘Black Heart’ from Natalie 2V comes with a sinister brand of timeless immortality that the best songs all deliver. The track has Pop elements, as well as a dark EDM vibe that adds a dangerous bit of electricity to the vibe.”

It will bring suspense it will make you want to dance with a drip of seduction. We don’t know what the overall formula is but it is sure a song worth listening too. ”

Kicking Sunrise - The One [Music Video Review]

April 25, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music Videos, Music

                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Are you the reason someone runs to you when they have no where else to go? ‘The One’ is a song about being the center and go to person for someone you love or have feelings for. Kicking Sunrise singer, Joe Murphy directed the music video in Philadelphia, PA. The visual shows the band in a basement with a laidback aesthetics as they focus on different scenarios to have someone make you the reason for anything. ”

                    Limón Limón - Attention [Review]

April 23, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop, Commercial

                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“We have featured several tracks from Limón Limón and now the LA based duo is back with another new release. ‘Attention’ captured my interest with a bluesy folk melody and a set of vocals that emotes the strong emotion and passion of the writing every step of the way. The track has just a touch of a retro feel, but stays contemporary with the overall vibe and energy.”

Simone - everything/nothing [Music Video Review]

April 23, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Music Videos, Singer/Songwriter, Indie Pop

                      Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Young love is a theme often seen in music, but despite travelling that same road, nothing about Simone’s track feels cliche or stale. The emotions of ‘everything/nothing’ are up front and present, and oh-so-real, even if it has been years since that first young love of your life. You can feel this relationship unfold, and in that you have no choice but to think back on your own life.”

“Icon South teams up with Indie Artist, whynotcordell on this melancholic track. “My Script’ utilizes an almost monotone delivery to drive home the emotion and power of the writing. The beat is straightforward, but a perfect match for the vibe of the lyrics. This songs puts that disenfranchised angst we’ve all felt, into a tangible art form.”

                          Rating: 4 out of 5

“This track definitely spoke to my Texas roots. Folk, reminiscent to a blend of the late great John Prine and Todd Snider, the soft tone comes with lyrical punch and a wry bit of emotional twist. This track is not as Commercial in its sound as most of the music we share on LA on Lock, but don’t let that deter you from taking a dive in on this well-written ode to the selfish people we all know.”

Matt Nye drops this smooth easy flow that bends and curls like the sweetest smoke with its pungent wordplay and mystical beat production. There are Mac Miller vibes to be made, but this one just feels right no matter who you wanna compare the style to. ”

DaRealFlexx - Deep End (Feat. Vince Knight) [Music Video Review]

April 19, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Rap, Music, Music Videos

                              Rating: 5 out of 5

“Picture rolling in the car and not knowing what the day holds until you get to a party.

”Deep End” is a song you can vibe to with the top down or kick it at the crib.

Coming out of Costa Mesa, California, Da Real Flexx’s delivery is smooth yet energetic and the beat is a classic vibe. We knew this was a hit because his lyrical delivery is straight to the point with no chaser. As you pay close attention to what him and Vince Knight are saying you are sure to have the urge to hit the deep end even if it’s for the weekend. ”

                                Heretixx - Stripes [Review]

April 17, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Rap, Hip-Hop

                                Rating: 4 out of 5

“Smooth West Coast vibes dominate this flow and beat. Heretixx adds a touch of Trap to the mix to give this track a slightly different feel than a lot of West Coast Hip Hop. The flow is mesmerising as it slithers through a nice lyrical build and progression. ”

                                  Dylan Rockoff - Magic [Review]

April 17, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

“A little Bruno, a splash of Timberlake, and you have a good idea of what this funky little summer track from Dylan Rockoff sounds like.

’Magic’ has that timeless sound and quality that fits well with the sounds you would hear on the radio. This one will be perfect for your summer pool party list, or for a low key groove on the dance floor. ”

Kath Myers - According to the Law [Review]

April 17, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Indie Rock

                                    Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Kath Myers is a bit of an enigma. Launching her foray into the music business at thirty-one, she brings a different perspective to the her writing and ‘According to the Law’ deals with the emptiness and social stigma of dating someone considerable younger.

Written about a relationship she had with a person 15 years younger than herself, and with a view into a perspective not often represented in contemporary American music the song stands out in a unique way ... You were born too late / You’re just a baby / By the time you’re in your prime I’m gonna be an old lady / But I’m in my prime today so let’s do it anyway ... she sings over sparse piano, guitar, drums and a deep seated bass line that sit back and set a deceptively grand stage for Myers’ incredible vocals to shine with a sheen that belies her relative lack of experience behind a mic.”

Gabriel Black - King of the Nosebleeds [Review]

“Gabriel Black might be the ‘King of Nosebleeds,’ or he might be king of the Alt Pop Folk sound. Or the case can be made after this track that he is both at the same time.

This well-written track couples great writing with an emotive vocal performance that captures the sentiments to a tee. This song simply speaks to the soul.”

“Sometimes we find ourselves in a relationship more of convenience than true love and passion. And sometimes while stuck in such a staid relationship we come across that spark of life that lets us know the we need a change. ‘Girl of My Dreams’ is about such an encounter and the daydreaming that comes with such a discovery. ”
