“A recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, Wintur is now in LA carving out his place in the Southern California music scene. ‘Writer’s Block’ is a moody brooding track that delivers and Alt Pop/ Folk Pop feel. Delivered in a soft, misty tone the melancholy draws the listener in deeper, reminding them of their own struggles in a profound way.”
“All Country/Americana artist, J Killen has taken a circuitous and bumpy road to his latest release. ‘Oak Tree’ is a single from his album titled, Depression Dollars.
The song deals with grief and loss and how that can shape how you live the rest of your life. Killen has seen his share of strife and those experiences can be felt in his writing and performance.”
“Fun. Audacious. Bold. All of that and more explains the vibe of LAdy Di Mega Diva’s single, ‘Precious.’ This is a summer anthem type of Pop track that is easy to join in and sing along. I predict this one will be belted out during many a ladies night out for years to come.”
“We all know at least one guy that is seeking attention with all manner of obnoxious idiocy. They fool people for a while because they seem outgoing and fun. And then you discover it’s all bluster and bullshit with no substance or decency behind their actions.
KJPR puts such individuals in their place with the hard hitting, ‘Make a Man Cry,’ an Indie Pop track with an edge to the lyrics, and the talent to deliver the venom with precision.”
“Some songs cannot be categorized. Jason Matu’s latest, ‘The Returning of The LEaves’ is such an animal. Speaking of animals the track was inspired by the love his girlfriend’s cat had for its owner, but the track really is an ode to time and love and the grief or sadness we have when apart. The track has Indie Rock and Americana vibes. Like a modern Levon Helms.”
“Forgiveness can be a tough road. Petty revenge is much easier to slip into. ‘Before You Left’ offers a little bit of both. Camille De La Cruz is a young talent on the rise and this track straddles an Alt Pop Contemporary R&B vibe to unleash an array of emotions post breakup.”
“Sophie Truax calls out those delivering false promises on her latest Alt Pop track ‘You Won’t.’ Her vocal is soft and kind but the message itself is direct and unflinching and that odd juxtaposition adds a surprising element to a fairly straightforward set of lyrics.”
“This track with its warm tones and languid vibe feels like an evening on the porch watching a glorious day come to an end. ‘Setting Sun’ from Eric Jerardi is a sharp Blues driven Rock song that settles down in your bones with a musical groove that makes you want to sing along and sway to the groove.”
“There is a great big beautiful, and diverse world out there, but when you grow up in a small town, surrounded by people that have barely, if ever, left their fishbowl, the scope of society is certainly skewed.
Maddie Zahn hails from such a place and her latest single, ‘Hometown Letdown’ is about the swirling rumors and judgement that comes when a person leaves such a place and discovers all the world can be. The track is pure Pop perfection. Fun and light with biting wit and dazzling talent to pull it off.”
“The Indie/Alt Pop genre covers a lot of styles and sounds. Savings leans into a nostalgic late 90s vibe to deliver ‘Stressed Out’ a nostalgic track about finding your peace by going back to the place you last felt it. The talent is evident in every facet from the writing to the arrangement and performance and the song is timeless in both message and style.”
“Mathias Julin drops this declaration of sorts,a nd does so with spectacular emotion. ‘Cruel World’ is a track about finding love in the midst of the troubling times we live in and how newfound live can make things seem better even while society crumbles. The track has a definite Alex Warren vibe with rich emotional tones and soaring emotions to hold the listener to the build.”
“Alfie Sharp is all about groove and vibe and ‘Don’t Know My Name’ is a track that could fit is several genres. Soul, Roots, Americana, Blues. There are elements of them all in this arrangement and performance. With a tip of the hat to history, but both feet planted in the here and now, Alfie Sharp unfurls this smooth build that will draw comparisons to Nathaniel Rateliff and Teddy Swims.”
“Leon Helm and The Band would be proud to hear a modern roadman like Marshal Sibury. Authenticity is hard to come by but in ‘Carry the Load’ you can hear the miles behind Sidbury.
I rarely share an artist’s bio but this one is too rih not too.
Marshall Sidbury has been writing songs since he left home, in the New Mexico desert, to work as a cattle hand on the rodeo circuit. One night after the rodeo, he was stabbed by a jealous husband in an Arkansas juke joint and had a spiritual awakening.
He quit the rodeo and left the next day to play the piano in a traveling Pentecostal revival, until he was bitten multiple times by a venomous snake and could not travel to the next destination.
After he recovered, he took a job in a tobacco warehouse near Durham, North Carolina, where he lives today. Along the way, he’s picked up songs and musical styles. From Mexican border towns to the work chants he learned as a prisoner during a brief stint in a Texas penitentiary, Marshall blends them all into his own brand of American music.
Yes he does!”
“Often Rock music leans into a nostalgic vibe, at least timeless Rock does, and that is the case here with Neon Pilgrim’s, latest song, ‘Getaway.’ The Indie/Alt Rock vibe is pure and clean and right away you know what the vibe is of this track. A song that will take you back but make you feel in the here and now as well. ”
“Patrick Sampson has a unique timbre to his voice that really helps sell the emotions on a vulnerable and melancholic song such as ‘Teal.’
The soft build is provocative because of the emotion which makes this a song to feel as much as hear. A track that expands and means more with each listen.”
“Garage Rock isn’t a term bandied about much these days but Beautiful Dudes are turning back the clock with ‘Cherries.’ Rooted in a sound that now is most commonly called Alternative Rock, the band has achieved a sound that would have worked two decades ago as well as it does today. That is not to say they sound dated because true Rock and Roll is always timeless.”
“Chilean artist, Francisca Valenzuela has long stamped her place in the landscape of of Latin music with multiple ALtin Grammy nominations. Now poised for global stardom with evocative tracks like ‘SOS’ Valenzuela is gaining attention of audiences and with such prolific talent her music transcends language barriers.”
“Music can be healing for us all and ‘Dancing Through the Madness’ fro ALANI is the kind of track that can change how you feel and look at life. The Indie Pop track is about staying true to who you are even in the face of judgement. It is a powerful song about not succumbing to the demands of adapting so you can fit into spaces defined by others. ”
“The Replicants like to joke they make music they are passionate about but is unlikely to earn them enough to escape their mom’s basement. As a curator I am not sure how I feel about this because if they are making music like this down int he basement I hate to see them leave and get jaded by the industry. However this band is too good to stay in the shadows for long.
Straddling the line between Indie Alt Rock and Alt Pop, ‘I Remember’ is one of those songs that simply feels timeless and would fit in any era from the last three decades. ”
“Some artists have the innate ability to take a personal experience and thenw rite a song that has universal appeal. Lunkai Li took a tough fight with cancer and the feelings of emerging ont he other side into a track that could just as easily be about saying goodbye to a former lover. The best art means different things to different people and the song ‘On Life’ certainly fits that category.”
