Pastis - Stars & Marmalade [Review]

April 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Indie Pop

Rating: 4 out of 5

“The early hook of the melody pulled me in on this track, and from that point on, I never lost focus. The single has an old soul vibe to its bones, though the flesh is clearly modern.

Our we made of ‘Stars & Marmalade?’ ... Who knows, but I am certain this Indie Rock track is made of talent and that this is a track that had true life for me. ”

Len Bowen - The Breaks ft. Katya [Review]

April 28, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Rap

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“There is a definite old school vibe to this track, but it is not a pure throwback as the evolution of the genre comes through the production as well.

Len Bowen’s flow is steady and passionate in a low key kind of way, and Katya offers an engaging backdrop with her sweetly alluring vocal tone. Lyrically, the track is a quiet manifest of sorts. A marking of territory for Bowen almost. ”

Chappell Roan - Pink Pony Club (Acoustic Video) [Music Video Review]

April 28, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Singer/Songwriter, Commercial

      Rating: 4 out of 5

“A magic club where everyone can freely be themselves without fear of judgment? That is what Chappell Roan has given us here with ‘Pink Pony Club,’ a heart-rendering vocal ballad about acceptance. The piano melody and Roan’s vocals invite you in and the tender songwriting holds you, leaving you eager to discover what’s next in this song of both hope and sadness. ”

Jovani - 20 Seconds (Feat Jessica Shy) [Review]

April 27, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Lyric Video, Music, EDM

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“Lithuanian DJ Jovani is back with another artful production. Lyrically the track conjures the emotion of striking while the iron is hot. The vocal talent of Jessica Shy is soft and alluring and the beat progression works to build the energy on this track to give it an overall tangibility that makes you want to move and sing along. ”

          Schmolbowl - Long Flight [Review]

April 27, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Soul, Rap, Hip-Hop, Conscious

          Rating: 4 out of 5

“Schmolbowl drops a tranquil and trippy flow on ‘Long Flight.’ With a rapid delivery and strong writing that overlaps and surprises at every turn, the track has an energy that envelopes you and makes you lean in close to hear what is coming next. The chorus has a nice hook and the track as a whole shows a good range of talent so I can;t wait to see what else comes from Schmolbowl on down the line.”

Cyrena Wages - River Bends [Review]

April 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Soul

            Rating: 4 out of 5

“Cyrena Wages delivers a genre bending vibe on this track about being at the crossroads. It is no surprise that The Memphis, TN, native chooses to tie this to the river instead of the road, but the premise is the same.

There is a bit of honky-tonk angel to this one, as well as a some gospel infused soul in the sound. The important thing is that you recognize Wages incredible talent as both a performer and a songwriter. ”

Stephanie McCourt - Save Me [Review]

April 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Jazz, Soul

              Rating: 4 out of 5

“This track has a lot of things to offer the world, but at the top of that list — is Stephanie McCourt’s soulful vocal power. A little Christina Aguilera and a little Aretha, McCourt certainly has the chops.

The early vibe is jazz fused, but then there is a Hip-Hop beat that at times put me in mind of classic Tupac. Lyrically, the single offers a good hook and the energy here is undeniable.”

                Devtrax - Vibe Check [Review]

April 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Trap, EDM

                Rating: 4 out of 5

“This hard hitting track has an Industrial feel with its fast progression and raucous feel. The build is intriguing, and the beat spoke to me.

Classic Trap EDM grind to this track that feels simple and engaging, which seems like an easy feet to achieve but certainly is not as evidence by the very few submissions within the genre that actually speak to me. This one rises above the fray for sure.”

Medusa - Man Like That [Review]

April 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Contemporary R&B, Commercial

                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Smooth and soulful like far more music used to be. The vocals drop in with a heavy dose of want and sensuality, whereas the lyrics are more about the hopes and dreams of what she is looking for out of a relationship. The R&B groove is infectious and grubs you start to finish giving this track an allure that is pleasing to the ears and mind and impossible to escape.”

                    Chaso Love - Interesting [Review]

April 25, 2020 by Yung Miss

                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“When I first saw the cover art, I was not sure I even wanted to listen to the song. My first thought was ‘ That can’t be comfortable’ but ladies and gentlemen do not judge a ‘song’ by its cover! Chaso Love’s new rack “Interesting” has a vibe that reminds me of a softer Post Malone. The acoustic hip hop beat pairs nicely with Chaso Love’s smooth tenor vocals. I enjoy the pairing and I can definitely see a market for this record - Yung Miss”

“Honestly, I have never been a big fan of U.K. rap because it was always hard for me to understand but with artist like Drake and Pop Smoke (R.I.P) recently adapting song styles to match those similar of U.K. acts, the sound has started to grow on me. With that being said Madz new single “Saucin’” is a great example of the U.K. sound going mainstream. With a clean mix, on point delivery and catchy hook, “Saucin’” proves its replay value and earns a solid score. - Yung Miss”

Lilla Vargen - Love You Twice [Music Video Review]

April 24, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Singer/Songwriter

“Reconciliation is a tough thing to achieve after the trusses of trust have been burnt and both parties have walked away from that burning bridge. There has perhaps never been a more beautiful song written about that very thing than ‘Love You Twice.’.

The emotion of rekindling the promise of love is a tough to capture because it us so nuanced. Not only did Lilla Vargen capture that, but she did so with an undeniable hook that speaks even to a hard-heartened man like me, who would never for a second consider turning toward the ex in my own life.”

“Aron Blom possesses an engaging vocal tone that pulls you deep into his performance here on the single, ‘Water.’ The track takes a look at that next phase of a relationship when the initial lust and luster has faded and perhaps you realize the other person is not quite as perfect as you first believed. However, this rediscovery can lead to an even better understanding and long lasting love and Blom is able to covey this thorough strong writing and his touching vocals.”

“Freedom Fry is back with their own brand of ‘Happy Little Thoughts.’ This husband wife duo are releasing the track ahead of their upcoming album, Songs from the West Coast due May 29th.

The single delivers a hauntingly soft set of vocals about being down and out because it seems like the rest of the world is happier and more put together than you and your own life. Social media has certainly increased this sentiment for many and of course the current state of events has everyone stuck in a weird set of emotions.

I am a big fan of the varied sounds Freedom Fry deliver and look forward to the release of the album for even more surprises from this talented team.”

NIIVA - Love Games [Music Video Review]

April 24, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Electro Pop

“NIIVA starts ‘Love Games’ with a soft vulnerability that is alluring yet somehow leaves you wary at the same time. Not wary of the talent, but rather of what she drop next lyrically. The track keeps you on your toes and offers a few different vibes and arrangement all of which are seamlessly transitioned so that you are never left with emotional whiplash. Coy and talent I have the feeling the very talented NIIVA holds her own in any games she plays.”

Crash -Homeless In LA [Music Video Review]

April 24, 2020 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music Videos

“In a world where so many people are homeless or have experienced a time where they slept on the street, in a car, or been so broke they ate a $2 fast food meal. One of the leading cities for the homeless is LA. Artist Crash’s new single ‘Homeless In LA’ tells his story of having somewhere to go but really not having anywhere to go but the streets of LA.”

Very Very - Daydreams [Music Video Review]

April 24, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Indie Pop

“The melody here brings a dreamy lullaby type of vibe though the lyrics offer a darker feel though the light tone covers up that fact if you are not truly paying attention to the words. The video too has elements of both dark and light and hints at the blackness with a wry bit of humor for those of us with sadistic streak. This is a surprisingly complex song and video if you care to take the deep dive, but the track works as an engaging bit of entertainment if you only want to splash in the shallow end of the emotional pool.”

The flow here is loud and vibrant and full of easy to follow good cheer, even when YONAS drops a few fuck yous along the way. Join in, song along and you to can be having a ‘Good Day.’ ”

“The ‘Funny Thing’ is this song gave me Macy Gray vibes. With her incredible story telling abilities, I pictured being in a bookstore sitting down as Samantha Leah performed. This song also gives light-hearted vibes as it encourages you to laugh at disappointments rather than be upset.”

Paden - All The Saints [Review]

April 24, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Alternative

“A quiet first verse ushers in this emotional cry for help. The track ramps up the emotional intensity as well as the tempo as the song progresses and the build pulls the listener along effortlessly until the second voice comes in with a surprising softness that drives home the vulnerability.

Fans of Coldplay will find it easy to connect with Paden’s style and sensibilities. ”
