Lenkie - Trouble [Review]

June 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Contemporary R&B, Alternative, Folk

Rating: 4 out of 5

“Love and lust are tricky things, and if you are not careful, the chase is what you come to crave more than the actual act of being with someone.

Lenkie is a 17 year old South African artist living in New York City, and here she gives us track that feels wise beyond her years. Dark and brooding and intuitive, the mood feels as dangerous as the girl mentioned in “Trouble.””

Chavis Chance - When We Sync Up [Review]

June 01, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Singer/Songwriter, Music

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Chavis Chance is a songwriter from Texas now living in Spain. This particular track he co-wrote remotely with his father who has a Rock and Roll pedigree of his own. I suppose you could label this track as Pop, but for me it is the kind of emotional song that feels like a gentle rain landing on the soul. The emotion drips down and soothes the mind letting you lose track of all else for a few minutes as you simply enjoy the moment. ”

Skuzii x Wilke$ - Act Like That [Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Rap, Alternative, Contemporary R&B

      Rating: 4 out of 5

“You ever save a snack or a bit of leftovers in the fridge ... then come for them hungry late at night only to discover someone already ate your food? The betrayal is real, and amplified all the more when the food thief is your significant other.

This track is about those emotions and the overall selfish attitude of a disrespectful lover. The writing is humorous, but still emotional and poignant. the way real truths tend to be. The chill flow makes it easy to connect, and I found myself in a musical brand of amen as I nodded along in agreement.”

An-G - BAAQ [Music Video Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Rap

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“Let the coronation commence! An-G declares herself Queen in this, punch-you-in-the-mouth flow. Proclaiming to the world that she can do whatever the hell she wants, An-G is not shy on bluster be it with your man or otherwise. Brazen, and blazing, she ain’t talking trash, she is talking facts, at least in her mind.

Listen and scope out the video to judge for yourself if you think she can back up the swagger.”

Sarah Barrios - Mourn The Living [Music Video Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Singer/Songwriter, Commercial

          Rating: 4 out of 5

“Mourning is accepted when it comes to those who have passed on, but it often seems like we as society tell people to get over it and move on when they are mourning anything else but the dead.

With ‘Mourn The Living,’ Sarah Barrios gives is a heart-wrenching Pop ballad to the loss of relationships, friends, and even times gone by. The vocals deliver the sense of loss with a tender almost ragged emotion that hits hard.”

            Anna Pena - Retribution [Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Alternative, Electro Pop

            Rating: 4 out of 5

“Dark and gritty, this Electro Pop track promises ‘Retribution.’ There isn’t a person alive who hasn’t craved a little pay back for those who have done them wrong and on this track, Anna Pena puts that desire into a set of menacing, yet sultry vocals that makes you taste the need for revenge on the back of your tongue.

The single delivers a nice arrangement which offers variation and a build that keeps you tethered to this song.”

Anna Graceman - Night Follows [Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter

              Rating: 4 out of 5

“Anna Graceman caught the eyes and ears of Ellen and America’s Got Talent at an early age, and she has only grown and matured as an artist since those appearances.

’Night Follows’ is a soaring ballad with rich vocal textures and tangible emotion. There is a big bold feel to this track that captivates and keeps you invested throughout, even as the track drops into its quieter moments.”

Brooke Alexx - Stole My Heart - Acoustic [Music Video Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Singer/Songwriter

                Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Brooke Alexx steps away from a big Pop production with this raw emotional track. ‘Stole My Heart’ is a tender love ballad of heartache, hope, and fear.

Lyrically the song is about that one person that you can’t forget even though both of you have moved on, proving time and distance are sometimes not enough to repair the cracks true love leaves behind. Sometimes the journey is not what we expect and this tack captures that realization with grace and talent.”

                  Hövring - Revolution [Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Alternative, Rock

                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Perhaps the ‘Revolution’ in question is one to return to a time when Rock music was loud and fast and carried an edge. If so, HÖVRING is one of the leaders of the charge.

This track is simply pure old school Rock and Roll. Straight out of Denmark this single brings the drums sound you’d expect, the front man energy you need, and of course, an attitude that leaves you ready to challenge the world.”

Modern Adventures - Can I Call You [Review]

                    Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“There is never a bad time to fall in love, but that said, the carefree spirit of summer seems the perfect season to experience the dizzying array of emotions that comes with the act.

Modern Adventures has not only captured the feeling of falling in love, but also has given us the perfect summer vibe with ‘Can I Call You.’ This Indie Rock track delivers a purely modern vibe and yet it is not impossible to imagine the Beach Boys creating such a feel good tune simply made for the bright sunshine.”

“Meshing a Hip-Hop vibe with an Electronic sound, Harmoneee drops ‘Don’t Bring Me Down.’ The production and arrangement keep the track moving forward at a tranquil pace that meanders, but never lags.

Lyrically, the track is a positive reaffirmation that tough times, hard times, anxious times — do not have to define you. That you can keep on moving forward and overcome the roadblocks until you get to the other side. ”

This track is about that one girl that refuses to go quietly. The one that demands to be noticed and will stop at nothing until you do so. The groove here is infectious and the vocals stay in that same lane to keep the good ties going.”

“It is a simple question with complex ideas behind it. ‘Where Do Love Go?’ Here one minute and gone the next. Not unlike a magical tune that lands in your ears and fills you with ideas and emotion only to disappear as another track comes on. Still some songs stick with us and this is that kind of song. Light and airy in the best possible way Pop music can be, Lune has given us a track that we can easily dance along with as we ponder all the wonderful and weird facets of this thing we call life.”

Icarus Moth x Wit Blu - Perfect Outfit [Music Video Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Electro Pop, Contemporary R&B

                                Rating: 4 out of 5

“Make up sex! This track is the softest smoothest ode to angry smashing that you will ever hear.

The lyrical build is magic and the talented vocal performance oddly pop-like given the message being delivered. Somehow the mismatched combination is quite evocative and intriguing. But I suppose that is how love goes. Passion runs hot and cold, and is especially abrupt after making the corner after a big fight. So perhaps, this song has only captured that dynamic in perfect, musical bliss. ”

                                  Kahone Concept - Maybe [Review]

May 29, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop

                                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Kahone Concept has a bit of Coldplay vibe about them, and the track ‘Maybe’ is a slow build that sort of sneaks up on you. The sound and emotion are prevalent from the start, but I was surprised how deeply engrossed I became in the track.

The world disappeared for me and I simply was carried away by the music and performance.”

                                    Estella Dawn - Wonderlust [Review]

May 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Alternative, Indie Pop, Singer/Songwriter

                                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Estella Dawn is fed up with the added scrutiny women face. Too think? Too thick? To sensual. Not alluring enough? ‘Wonderlust’ is an intricately delivered revolt to the idea the opinions of others should get in the way of who you are and how you feel.

Dawn’s vocals are lush and rich and brimming with seething attitude, though you get the sense there is even more power lurking there should she need to call upon it. This track makes a statement for a talented young artist.”

Makena - Time of My Life [Review]

May 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Indie Pop

                                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“On a track that will leaving you trying to decide if you should laugh, cry, or dance, Makena gives us a gamut of emotions.

’Time of My Life’ is an ode to growing up and finding your place in the world through tough times and good times and all the times in between. There is a pop element to the vocals that adds a lightness to what lyrically at times is a very dark song.

Showcasing a variety of vocal styles, the track also offers that hopeful feeling you get with the knowledge you are not alone in your hopes, fears, and struggles.”

                                        Cobi - Don't Stop [Review]

May 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Singer/Songwriter

                                        Rating: 4 out of 5

“The soft piano melody invites you in, Cobi’s delicate yet emotive vocals makes you want to stay. Lyrically, this track will no doubt hold different meanings for different people, because this is that kind of artful songwriting that can deliver both intimacy and broad relevance.

’Don’t Stop” transcends genre, by falling into the power ballad spectrum of simply good music that speaks to a wide array of listener.”
