Cristina Hart - Will You [Review]

December 04, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

Rating: 4 out of 5

“Cristina Hart’s warm vocals wrap around you allowing the emotions of this single to engulf and comfort you in the same way a timeworn memory can.

’Will You’ is a slow building, big Pop single that speaks directly to the heart. The vocal talent carries the day, but the production certainly aids in the warmth of the track.”

The Ella Sisters - Drunk On December [Review]

December 04, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop, Singer/Songwriter

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Written like a melancholy letter home, ‘Drunk On December’ is a songwriters’ ode to feeling down and blue while stressing over the anxiety that they have not fulfilled the expectations of others they care about. The Ella Sisters deliver vulnerable emotions that hold you tight in a relatable way that speaks to all of our insecurities and fears.”

      Rating: 4 out of 5

Smooth vocals and an alluring groove keep you leaning in on the progression of this Indie/Electro Pop ode to the excitement of meeting that someone new that quickens your heart and lowers your inhibitions. ‘Downtown’ is where you will want to be after listening to this track.”

Jamie Grey - Christmas In Our Hometown [Premiere Review]

December 03, 2020 by Kreadiv Kesh in Commercial, Music, Neo-Soul

        Rating: 5 out of 5

“The holidays are filled with love and gatherings but there is no place like home. Jamie Grey’s ‘Christmas In Our Hometown’ is about memories and experiencing Christmas at home. The melody is a guitar meets bell in a smooth relaxed delivery. This would be a perfect song for any Christmas movie.

Jamie says: “I tried to just be honest and write about what the lead up to Christmas rather than the actual day always felt like to me being from our little town of Redcar. We kind of have a strip of pubs and bars in the town centre, which practically the whole town comes out to from around the 21st of December up until Boxing Day. I always remembered coming back from London and so looking forward to seeing old friends and even acquaintances that I’d only see once a year. ”

KJ Smoove - Sad Truth [Review]

December 03, 2020 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music

          Rating: 4 out of 5

“Pain is one thing but the battle between love and hate is ongoing. KJ Smoove new single ‘Sad Truth’ tells the story of love and hate. It speaks on death and incarceration. The beat is upbeat but there is no fun in the song just pure reality.”

Born Allah - "Jabril (Let the Horns Blow)" (feat. Rakaa of Dilated Peoples) [Review]

December 02, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Hip-Hop, Conscious

            Rating: 4 out of 5

“Born Allah teams up with Rakaa on this track to come straight at you here with a flow that demands your attention. The confidence and razor sharp wordplay provide the hook, over the top of a horn and percussion heavy track created by German beatsmith Zpu-Zilla, which finished off an energetic track with yet another layer that refuses to let you turn away.

Born Allah’s new album Analog Baby drops January 7th. ”

              Rich Miller - Atmosphere [Review]

November 28, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Future Bass, Electro Pop

              Rating: 4 out of 5

“Rick Miller drops a new single, ‘Atmosphere’ which is the kind of track that simply feels right for the moment. The big Future Bass production offers hope and encouragement in for what many is a dark time. The build and progression offer reassurance without resorting to any sort of cheap gimmicks, just a steady determination that mirrors what we all need right now.”

                FRKLZ - I Lied [Review]

November 28, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Rap, Autotune

                Rating: 3.5 out of 5

“We have all got swept up in a moment of passion and spoken in haste, words we don’t truly mean. FRKLZ faces that in the track, ‘I Lied’ which deals with the aftermath of delivering those words you so desperately want to take back.

The single has a commercial Pop/ Rap feel that works well to deliver the mental anguish of the situation though at times the autotune felt heavy for me.”

Blue Light Bandits - Every Day Is a Holiday [Review]

November 28, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Holiday

                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Just in time for the holidays, Blue Light Bandits come out with an energetic, uplifting single in ‘Every Day Is a Holiday.’ Though not specific to any particular season, the funky little groove and vibe here feels cheerful and magical which is something we all hope to feel this time of year.

There is a definite tip fo the hat to John Mayer with the vocal style and production on this track, and the piano melody somehow reminds me of Charlie Brown and Snoopy in a nostalgic kind of way.”

November 27, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Gillian Heidi possesses that rare gift to immediately pull you into whatever she is singing. This warm, emotive quality of her voice will serve the 16 year old artist well on the coming years, but already she is proving to be a true emotional force within the industry.

’Moonlight’ sheds light on the fact that this star will not be dimming anytime soon. ”

Carly King - Mountains, Alone. [Music Video Review]

November 24, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Folk, Americana, Indie Pop

                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Carly King has that vocal tone that works for whatever style she wishes to sing, and that does make it tough to categorize her sound. There is a hint of Macy Gray, a splash of Dylan, a whiff of Rondsant and Emmylou all in that timbre, but most important is the emotion and feeling that emits from her delivery. This track couples that with strong songwriting, and in the end, the emotions wrap around you like a soft warm blanket on a chilly day.”

November 24, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Hip-Hop, Electro Pop, Rap

                        Rating: 4 out of 5

“This is a track that shakes up the norms. Coming almost with a medley like vibe of shifting styles and delivery tones, Suspect Ed is tough to classify in any one genre. There is a definite Hip-Hop flow that works well, but the track also offers a nice 80’s style vocal hook that feels nostalgic, while also managing to come across as a modern Pop arrangement. Through multiple listens, I remained on the hook for this ‘First Class’ trip. ”

“Tell someone they can’t and they do one of two things — quit — or work harder to prove their doubters wrong.

Sjr has obviously taken the latter path and honed his craft until it was razor sharp. The flow on ‘Said I Couldn’t’ comes steady and smooth like a Hip-Hop/Soul blend that conveys just the right passion and emotion without allowing the production to get in the way.”

“Some songs win you over simply by feeling real and genuine. Dawson Gamble’s latest, ‘What You Don’t Know’ is one of them.

Starting out soft and vulnerable, the well-written lyrics hook you with their authenticity before the track insiifies and layers in a bit more of a Rock/Pop sound to go with the early singer/songwriter vibe. Though in truth, genre is less important than the erstwhile emotions on a track like this.”

Tony Sergi - Your Heart Has To Go [Review]

November 20, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

                                Rating: 4 out of 5

“Tony Sergi comes in with a nice groove, and Pop kind of sound that takes a quick hard left turn that surprises and hooks you in. Pulling no punches, this energetic groove is one that will have you dancing and wryly smiling.

But perhaps Tony describes it best ... ‘Your Heart Has To Go’ is pretty much a happy break up
song, a middle finger to all the past lovers that screwed you around. An anthem for all those who have been fucked over. ~ Tony ”

Sam Winston - Damaged Goods [Review]

November 20, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter

                                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Sam Winston engages the listener with a soft and vulnerable vocal refrain, that belies the emotional impact of the song’s title. ‘Damaged Goods’ is a stripped down kind of track, that lets the emotion of the writing and performance do the heavy lifting.

We all have our doubts of worthiness and misgivings that we we are worthy, and at times, that leads to self-sabotage so listening to tracks like this helps us realize we are not alone in these thoughts and we truly are as worthy as any other person. ”

                                    Marlow - Different Lives [Review]

November 20, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Alternative

                                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“This is an Indie Rock track that delivers an almost stream of conscious vibe that reminded me of the arrangement for “Bittersweet Symphony.’ Marlow does deliver an slightly different energy on their single, ‘Different Lives’ than that classic hit from The Verve, but fans will certainly appreciate both.

The lyrical message is one that is simple, yet highlights emotions and a position that we’ve all found ourselves in.”

ORLA - Close to Me [Review]

November 20, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop

                                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Losing the one you love is never easy, and sometimes we are desperate to hold on just a little bit longer. That is the emotion behind ORLA’s single, ‘Close To Me,’ and in that scared vulnerability we sometimes find an unexpected strength.

This track is a soulful, in Pop kind of way, and the melody adds as much impact as the words though the vocal performance certainly carries its weight in emoting the passion of the track. ”

Brit Fox x 10Bagz - Lasso (Like A Rodeo) [Review]

November 20, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Rap, Autotune

                                        Rating: 4 out of 5

“Brit Fox has been described as the female Rick Rubin, but truth be told, Fox’s talents stand on their own and need no comparison. Joined here by 10 Bagz, Fox deliver the sultry attitude and energy with a brand new single , ‘Lasso.’

This is a banger that works for the club or rolling down the boulevard. Coming with energy and a hint of bounce, this track will indeed wrap around you like a placed lasso.”
