Boy Jr. - Still Be Friends [Music Review]

August 08, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

“Break up speeches are a bit ridiculous in that they often heap praise about you being a good person and deserving better but then the person says but hey we are still going to break up. Boy Jr. takes a wry and ironic go at this practice with ‘Still Be Friends.’

The Indip pop track is fun in spirit, but also has enough of an edge to slice deeper.”

Francie Eliott - Delusional [Music Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Future House, Indie Pop

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“German Pop songstress, Francie Eliot drops this debut single and she is anything but ‘Delusional,’ because her talent is obvious. There is a bit of Miley in the tone though the arrangement gives me Fleetwood Mac vibes as well.

The writing is strong and her emotive delivery sells the words well. The up-tempo arrangement is energetic and entertaining start to finish.”

Kait Madison - House of Love [Music Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Americana

      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Kait Madison unleashes a soulful bit of Gospel inspired Americana on her uplifting track ‘House of Love.’

The energy and passion are evident in her every word and she has just enough rasp to her vice to make the performance that much more interesting.”

L'Marco - Jubilant People (feat. AshtnMrtn) [Music Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Reggae, Soul, Contemporary R&B

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“L’MArco and AshtnMrtn team to give us ‘Jubilant People,’ a Reggae track that speaks to the times and the strong spirit of people who refuse to be controlled. Rhythmic and with a infectious beat this track is one that lingers in the mind long after that last note. ”

Yelawolf - Barn Fire [Music Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Autotune, Commercial, Music, Trap, Hip-Hop, Conscious

          Rating: 4 out of 5

“I have a love hate relationship with this track. That steady cadence of the beat gripped me from the first listen though the lyrical flow took me a couple listen to full appreciate.

Yelawolf sounds like a Countryfied Snoop Dogg and his wordplay is ne point though the references are not what you hear in Hip-Hop. That is a good thing but it is a bit jarring upon the first listen. ”

Viktor Harter - Save Me [Music Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Hip-Hop, Conscious, Autotune

            Rating: 3 out of 5

“Viktor Harter hooked me with the writing on this track. The melancholy vibe of the flow works in the same way Biz Markie made it work, though I did crave more energy pushing the flow at times. Still the track has enough emotion to keep me on the hook and eager for the next line. ”

Born Runner - A Long Time [Music Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Downtempo, Jazz, Music, Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Alternative, Pop

              Rating: 4 out of 5

“By his own admission Born Runner is surprisingly bad at running, but lucky for all of us he can sing and entertain. ‘A long Time’ is a Indie Rock track that simply feels like the soundtrack for a fun Saturday night out on the town. ”

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Mixtape, Music, Alternative, Pop

“The party scene can get old and is certainly filled with cliched people. This track from Gwyn Love is how many people deal with such environments. ‘high in the bathroom’ is an Alt Pop anthem for those with social anxiety or those simply sick of the same old same old. ”

This lead song from their new album due out August 23rd delivers a nice calm sound and build. The smooth groove and vocals are easy to digest and sing along with. ”

GAUSTAD - My Own Worst Enemy [Music Video Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Alternative, Pop

                    Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“GAUSTAD is one of the most emotive young voices I’ve heard. ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ is pretty self-explanatory in terms of subject but the nuance and flair that GAUSTAD infuses into the performance is next level talent. Pop Music has a new rising star. Latch on now and celebrate the rise of the phenom. ”

Kenny Sharp - Coming Back To You [Music Review]

August 04, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Adult Contemporary, Americana, blues

                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Kenny Sharp’s latest track ‘Coming Back To You’ was recently featured in the latest season of Love Island and I suspect you’ll be hearing the song in a lot of other places as well. Sharp has that vocal sound that is hard to defne to a single genre. A little blues, some roots rock, Americana, Pop. It’s all in there on this track, and the writing has clever word play as well as deeper meaning to ponder on subsequent listens.”

                        Rating: 3.5 out of 5

“This track comes alive thanks to the emotion and passion of the vocal performance. Lyves described the track as personal and cathartic and that comes through in the end result. ‘REM’ is about a one sided relationship and the slow dawning of that realization and the track has a dreamscape vibe that mirrors the way our brains tend to work. ”

“Culture Jam delivers a beat and hook that goes all day long. Vocally the track has verve and confidence to sell the hard lyrical punches. That backing is infectious and stays with you long after the track ends. There are not enough strong female voices in the Rap world right now but this track definitely hits as hard as anything currently out there.”

Th track is light and energetic and brimming with confidence and pride. ”

Tessa Dalton - You See Me [Music Review]

August 03, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Indie Pop

                                  Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Sometimes what we need us right there under our nose and yet we have a hard time seeing it. Tessa Dalton gives us a beautiful piano ballad about realizing the love she’s been searching for has been right there beside her all along.

’You See Me’ is about realizing that person locked in the so-called friend zone is the one that truly knows who you are and the one you can depend on but of course we all suffer from the grass is greener phenomenon that leads us to go for the wrong yet extic choice before we learn our lesson that different isn’t always better. ”

Tamar Berk - Good Impression [Music Review]

August 03, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Pop, Alternative, Rock

                                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“It is always important to make a ‘Good Impression,’ but then again sometimes you just have to be yourself and let the truth land. Tamar Berk plays around with this idea with a lot of fun and energy on her latest single. The San Diego native has a throwback sound that would be right at home in the Pop landscape of the late 80’s. ”

Isa Y - Lose [Music Review]

August 03, 2024 by Travis Erwin in Neo-Soul, Music, Soul, Contemporary R&B

                                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“A Jazz influenced Soul track, ‘Lose’ offers a chance to sit back and relax as you contemplate fate and the times in life when no matter what you do things just do not work out how you’d hoped. Isa Y clearly has an old soul and this track has a bit of that old school crooner to go along with the smooth musical groove. ”

“P.U.R.P. joins forces with Rosita and Akeem Ali to give us a heart wrenching tale of a jilted sidepiece. ‘Jody’ turns the trop on its head given this time we are talking side dude rather than side chick. The track has some wry humor and irony as well as genuine grit and emotion lurking there in the irony.”
