ARSONAL DA REBEL - PRODUCT OF MY ENVIRONMENT [Music Video Review]

July 28, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Rap

Rating: 4 out of 5

“The lyrical progression and word play of the verses hooked me in more than anything else about this track but there was never a moment where my focus drifted in even the slightest way.

The video and track combine to tell a story that is gripping as well. A full well-rounded project that keeps you leaning in from start to finish. Timely, but not patronizing like so many track coming out today.”

Tay Da Prince - Love One Another f/John Legend [Music Video Review]

July 26, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul, Conscious, Commercial

    Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Delivering an uplifting message with a chorus from John Legend and a Hip-Hop flow from Tay Da Prince, this track is pure inspiration and positive vibes.

The video comes with an All-Star cast and the gospel vibe to the track does not comes at the sacrifice of a rich beat and energetic performance. Get on board with this project and do something positive today, be it a donation, a helping hand, or simply a kind smile towards another. ”

Pawz One x DJ Dister - Out Of Bounds [Music Video Review]

July 24, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Hip-Hop, Conscious, Rap

      Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“If you think the West Coast is all sunshine and palm trees you just might be ‘Out Of Bounds.’

In a throwback to the Old School days when the West Coast Rap scene was wild, Pawz One drops a track that is defiant, and if not outright angry, at least outright hostile in the way it challenges perceptions and those trying to front over things they have no clue about. ”

The Ella Sisters - Miss The Most [Music Video Review]

July 22, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Indie Pop

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“The Ella Sisters are Norwegian twins sisters and here their voices blend and mix with sheer precision that is tender and emotional, and energetically hopeful.

The tempo of the track isn’t what anyone would call fast, yet there is a positive vibe and lightness to the track that makes it feel upbeat while still maintaining that tender emotional thread. The vocal arrangement has a nostalgic, almost 90’s element to it, though the track feels modern and contemporary with its beat and overall sound. ”

GB Savant - Coronavirus Soup for the Soul [Music Video Review]

July 20, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Hip-Hop, Conscious

          Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“GB Savant has done what I though was nigh on impossible at this point ... given me a Covid inspired song that held my interest.

Dark and twisty and moody, ‘Coronavirus Soup for the Soul’ rises above the glut of the theme not only with a talented bit of writing, and a brooding build to the vocal flow, but also with strong imagery in the accompanying video. The entire piece comes with a vibe that matches the oddly structured make up of our days during this pandemic.”

UPSAHL - People I Don't Like [Music Video Review]

July 18, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Singer/Songwriter, Commercial

            Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“We have all been to those parties or gatherings when we had to show our face even though we truly wanted to be anyplace else. Playing nice against your will is tough, and ‘People I Don’t Like’ is the sexiest, most alluring song about boredom and obligation you will ever hear.

An ode to the fakeness of societal demands. ”

Dennyiah - Sailor [Music Video Review]

July 18, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Singer/Songwriter, blues

              Rating: 4 out of 5

“A slow, soulful track that hints at the Blues behind a songwriter emotional vibe. The ocean and our journey through life form a strong metaphor that is brought to life by these emotion laden vocals and a nice arrangement that serves this track quite well. This is stripped down songwriting and performing that feels far bigger than it actually is thanks to the talent behind it.”

Sarah Barrios - Emotional [Music Video Review]

July 18, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Singer/Songwriter, Commercial

                Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Some of us simply feels things more deeply, and dare I say openly, than others. Sarah Barrios reveals the introspective pain of being an ‘Emotional’ person that not only feels more deeply, but is willing to acknowledge those emotions rather than burying and pushing them away. The vocals are sweetly vulnerable and in them you can feel the angst and turmoil. ”

Malcolm Eppz - BEIJING RAYJENE [Music Video Review]

July 16, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Rap, Hip-Hop, Conscious

                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Malcolm Eppz drops a nice vocal flow over a beat that manages to both get out of the way, and give the track a bit of gritty edge. The writing is sharp and such that it takes a few listens to truly digest everything that is being put down. There is a bit of a throwback to the sound, but the overall vibe feels contemporary and fresh.”

Solo XL x K I T - Keep on Moving [Music Video Review]

July 12, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Soul, Hip-Hop, Conscious

                    Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“This track brings that raw passion that makes the flow pop and come alive. Solo XL delivers a strong tone to back his flow and that is brought home all the more with the contrast of the chorus delivered in soulful fashion by K I T.

The vibe has a dark grit to it, and the lyrics flow well carrying the listener forward along with the beat. There is a strong hint of Old School here, but still a contemporary sound as well, and the mix blends quite well.”

Stringz EMB - Beautiful Girl [Music Video Review]

July 11, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Commercial

                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Stringz EMB celebrates the powerful, the bold, the demure, the expanse of women in this uplifting and infectious track. With an engaging soulful voice that carries a unique timbre and a fun groove this track is positivity at its best.

StringZ EMB doesn’t hold back from hyping up all the women in his music video, “Beautiful Girl,” and beyond. All women are exquisite no matter their age, race, or body type. The clip highlights all of that majesty in a natural form; the background is a solid color while the focus is on a lucky lady in the middle. They’re smiling and dancing; some are even holding posters with positive self-descriptions, but most importantly, they’re themselves. No frills, no flaws, all beauty.”

July 11, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Rap, Hip-Hop, Conscious

                        Rating: 4 out of 5

“CHAII is a New Zealander of Persian heritage and that bit of personal history fuses with an energetic Hip-Hop style to bring ‘Lightswitch’ alive in a way perhaps no other artist could. The talent and energy of her flow and performance bring this track to life.

This track is part of a visual trilogy that was inspired by Iran’s Islamic Revolution of 1979, which resulted in countless creative talents, including musicians, actors and artists, relocating to California after their work was banned in their homeland. California remains the biggest Persian music community outside of Iran over forty years later and that community inspired and sparked CHAII’s efforts on this project.”

“The imagery of the video tells a more direct story than perhaps the lyrics would by themselves, but this track has the musical chops to stand on its own as well. With a darkly alluring vibe and silky, yet sinister, vocal groove, ‘Animal’ takes us beyond the facade we often put up to what lurks deep inside. Of course sometimes the elements of ourselves we bury are the truest and best parts of ourselves. And the very parts others are desperately hoping to discover ”

Dallas Thornton - Dance Till We Die [Music Video Review]

“Dallas Thornton is an entertainer in every possible way and that is evident in the rocking sweeping performance of his vocals, as well as his theatrics in the video that comes with this track. I mean this in the best possible way, but if Pauly Shore had a baby with Lady Gaga, I imagine the result would grow up to look a lot like this video.

This is anthem, a Rock celebration, an energetic stomp across the musical stage. So have fun, break out the air guitar, and the imaginary microphone and let yourself join in as we ‘Dance Till We Die.’”

The vocal flow is earnest and emotional and the video well done, but is is the honest truth of the complete storytelling that truly makes this project engaging and immersive.

Take the nearly 9 minutes it takes to watch and listen, and let the impact of the emotions hit you between the eyes. ”

Todays Youth - Feel It [Music Video Review]

July 06, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Reggae, Rock, Commercial

                                Rating: 4 out of 5

“This track is an uplifting genre bender that hints at Reggae, Pop, and a vintage Rock sound without ever fully committing to any well-defined genre. The single brigns a big sweeping vibe that almost reminded me of ‘We Are The World’ in its message and spirit.

The vintage message at the end of the video is a nice touch that brings the lyrics home quite well.”

“Sometimes the greatest moments don’t last forever. Joel Blackmon is a talented singer songwriter who wants to wake up in the morning next to that special person. His new single is a summer love vibe of rolling over looking into the face of someone amazing. He longs for her to stay around even if its just until the morning.”

“1.. 2... 3...’I’m so ‘Sick Of Me’ is an alternative single by Garzi featuring Travis Barker. The visual starts out with a road trip with a bit of car trouble episode that turns into a moment of destruction in the woods. The drums provide a fed up yet lit cadence as Garzi releases his tension vocally. ”

Joel James Live - Movie Kind of Timing [Music Video Review]

“ I was told that James is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter, cover artist, and producer and it shows in the good musical quality that he puts out. His new single ‘Movie Kind of Timing’ tells a story that is a bit emotional but he puts it all in the visual and the instruments he plays. He is a one man band that understands the heart is always attached to time. ”
