JESSIA - I'm not Pretty [Music Video Review]

March 23, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Commercial, Pop

Rating: 4 out of 5

“JESSIA utilizes her sharp vocal talent and smooth Pop style to deliver her body positive affirmations. ‘I’m Not Pretty’ utilizes catchy word play and a dazzling chorus to make the point that we all gotta be who we are, and chasing the rainbow of others is a utter waste of our time.”

    Dazy Chain - Cool

March 21, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Rap, Commercial

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Dazy Chain is feeling ‘Cool’ and you will too when this track is playing in your ears. A nice blend of retro vibe and contemporary flow brings this track to life. The groove and verve of the chorus makes this one just settle down in your bones.”

      Fagin - Laundry Day [Review]

March 19, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, Commercial, Indie Pop

      Rating: 4 out of 5

“A nice melodic groove brings this track alive. Smooth and soulful like something between Bieber and Bruno, this Pop groove works well. The hook of the melody and the straightforward lyrical presentation lends themselves to joining in and singing along. Simply a fun, self-reflective track.”

The France - Forever Too Long [Review]

March 19, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“Hailing from Manchester,England, The France might confuse some with their moniker, but this British band don’t mind shaking convention.

’Forever Too Long’ is a love song built upon yearning, and many of us have been missing someone after a year of isolation so this intensely personal song, brings a decidedly broader relevance in today’s time. This is the kind of track shared by lovers forced to be apart, or by anyone who has a soft spot in their heart they can’t quite reach because of outside obstacles. ”

“Straddling that line behind a Commercial sound and Indie Folk, LA based group, Wax Owls, have that clean emotional delivery that hooks listeners across a wide spectrum of tastes. ‘By My Side’ is a nostalgic look at utopian childhood and simply makes you happy to listen. ”

Eunice Janine x Tommy Will - Lies [Review]

March 16, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music, Commercial, Neo-Soul

              Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Eunice and Tommy deliver a seductive song about making choices. The song displays everything that people experience when it comes to the truth and the lie. The ending is delivered from a poetic stance but you feel the emotional connection overall. ”

                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Inspired by the great literary love stories, Emlyn has given us a passionate love song of sorts, despite the fact she admits to never having been in love herself.

’A Thousand Parties’ is a big bold Pop track that would be right at time on a Demi Lovato album. The boisterous vocals drive it all home giving this track a huge presence.”

“There is an optimistic energy and spirit about this track from Kama Tala that lifts the song and makes it impossible not to fall in and sing along. A bit of island flair and a dash of Paul Simon brings it all alive. Like a slightly more commercial sounding Jack Johnson.”

On the Outside- How Beautiful [Review]

March 08, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Commercial, Electro Pop

                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“ Take a look in the mirror and embrace who you are. On The Outside’s new single ‘How Beautiful’ is kicking out apologies and encouraging everyone to love who they are. The songs promotes body positivity and explains to everyone even if there is one thing you don’t like that is one thing that makes you perfect to someone else.”
                      — Kreadiv Kesh (LA On Lock Blogger)
“They have been coined “The Official Boy Band of TikTok”. Comprised of five immensely talented members Andrew Bloom, Dawson Huckabee, Devin Hayes, Jon Klaasen and Sam Jenkins, the Los Angeles-based group proposes a reevaluation of beauty standards ahead of a fast-approaching International Women’s Day. Aligned with their gripping new single “How Beautiful”, On the Outside challenges society’s comparison culture’ in order to uplift those who feel weighed down by an unrealistic beauty bar. Partnered with the JED Foundation, the band leads a conversation in acknowledgement of a social landscape overrun with anxiety, depression, suicide and poor self esteem. Very much in sync with their army of dedicated fans affectionately known as “Outsiders”, the band encourages everyone to embrace what makes them unique by finding the beauty within. ”

On The Outside’s “How Beautiful” is a song inspired by today’s comparison culture. Social media and contemporary advertising campaigns continue to set an unrealistic beauty bar that focuses an emphasis on physical beauty rather than the inner beauty within all of us. The result is a society overrun with anxiety, depression, suicide and poor self esteem. The lyrical intent of “How Beautiful” is to refocus the lens of what beauty is and how beauty can be found everywhere...and in everyone. In the verses, the lyric asks the listener to stop apologizing for not living up to unattainable standards and “take some time to learn what’s inside”. The song builds with the pre-chorus plea of “I wish you could see what I see” suggesting perhaps that often times the glare of our own mirrors hides what makes us shine. Finally, the chorus is almost mantra-like in its simplicity posing the simple, yet often difficult question...”do you even know just how beautiful you are?”. The sincere hope behind “How Beautiful” is to help reshape how we see ourselves and encourages everyone to find what makes them uniquely beautiful. If you look a little deeper, it exists in all of us.

At only 16, she has the talent and emotive vocal style that is perfect for delivery fun, yet meaningful songs. Rejecting an unwanted call by hitting that ‘Red Button’ can be cathartic in its own right as it returns the power to those who have been done wrong. ”

                                Charmaine - WOO! [Review]

February 26, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Contemporary R&B, Rap, Commercial

                                Rating: 4 out of 5

“Once again, Charmaine’s ain’t messing around. ‘WOO!’ follows Charmaine’s debut single ‘BOLD’ that established the Zimbabwe born artist as one of the top female rappers coming out of Toronto. The single has accumulated over 2 million streams on all platforms and ‘Woo!’ once again captures that confident spirit with an energetic bravado that hooks the listener early on.”

Casey Baer - Hollywood Hills [Music Video Review]

February 26, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Music Videos

                                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Casey Baer brings vocal power to this track about the pursuit of the dream. California and the ‘Hollywood Hills’ have long called dreamers of all types, but the struggle to stand out and achieve those goals is fraught with pitfalls and dangers and it gets damn tough to make it unscathed. This ballad details that struggle quite well, and you can feel the hope and anguish within the words.”

Running Lights - Not the One [Review]

February 26, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Pop, Rock

                                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Delivering a classic sound with enough modern flair to keep from feeling too retro, the latest single from Running Lights, ‘Not The One’ is an anthem to past loves and the realization some relationships are never meant to last. The overall vibe is positive even as the lyrics reflect on a broken past.”

Jon Hope is back with friends. He delivers ‘Where we Come From with Jim Jones and THS with Israel Wusu’. The poetic split is an introduction to survival with reflection on that Hope Shxt. People must understand that no matter how hard your life is or how deep of the hustle you are in there is still hope.”

                                        ETHOS XCIX- Leave Me [Review]

“You ever wanted to talk but felt like it was pointless? ETHOS XCIX new single ‘Leave Me’ is a direct intro to a pointless feeling. The song starts with realizing you are fxcked up and can’t be saved. He recaps on things he has heard before but at the end of it all he is twisted. I also like the solo EDM instrumentals throughout the song. ”
