George McBride - Pink Paisley [Music Video Review]

August 13, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Commercial, Indie Pop, Indie Rock

Rating: 4 out of 5

“As a writer myself, I am sucker for a good storytelling song, and George McBride has given us exactly that with ‘Pink Paisley.’

The story of addiction, and the myriad of struggles that comes with it, is one that sadly many can relate to. The overall vibe is of a Indie Rock track and the video does an admirable job of accentuating the writing with strong imagery.

This is a track that feels true to life and the emotions come through in the writing and performance.”

    Eric Punzo - Criminal [Review]

August 13, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Eric Punzo offers a couple of different vocal styles on this track, and both are engaging. When an artist fully commits to their craft, they sacrifice other parts of their life to spend time alone honing their craft. This song is about sequestering yourself and living like a ‘Criminal’ in self-induced solitary.

Artists are not the only ones to do this, as sometimes we all simply pull away to protect ourselves from others so the nuances of this track have a wide reaching resonance. ”

Anna Thompson - Hot Now [Music Video Review]

August 13, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, Adult Contemporary, Commercial

      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Anna Thompson is definitely, ‘Hot Now,’ and this track takes a few different angles on what that means to her past and present. From facing the judgmental people she knew in high school, who snubbed her and now want to be friends to the fake and flashy friends fame attracts, Thompson takes the emotion of not knowing who you can trust and who wants to be friends for the right reasons, versus merely using you and your rising stardom to their own benefit. The track is about being caught in the middle of these two dichotomies. ”

Brandon Birdwell - Wasted Days [Review]

August 13, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Indie Pop, Commercial

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“If Elton John and Ed Sheeran teamed up to write an Americana track, the resulting song would surely sound a lot like this. Luckily for us we don’t have to wait for such a collaboration, because Brandon Birdwell already possess the talent and skill to create that exact sound. And here it is — ‘Wasted Days,’ is no waste of your time or energy so give it a listen and add it to your playlists.”

The Roly Mo - I Miss The Dancing [Music Video Review]

August 13, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Indie Rock

          Rating: 4 out of 5

“Scottish band, The Roly Mo have released their new single, ‘I Miss The Dancing,’ with a timeless and classic Indie Rock sound that pulls you along as you listen.

We’ve all missed getting out there and mixing it up on friends, be it on the dancefloor or not, and this energetic ode to the times we couldn’t have fun is one that will stick far longer than the condition of our isolation. At least we can hope because good music is way more fun that quarantines. ”

Transmission Lost - One Way or Another [Review]

August 13, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Rock, Alternative

            Rating: 4 out of 5

“Transmission Lost offers a big bold Indie Rock sound. Leaning toward the Alternative or even Grunge sound f the early 90s, the band offers strong melodies and a lyrical build that sweeps the listener up and in. Hailing from Houston, Texas, Transmission Lost deftly utilizes influences of varying genres and sounds, to fuse together a rock and roll sound that is engaging and immersive. ”

Sam Tompkins - (W)hole [Music Video Review]

August 13, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music Videos, music

              Rating: 4 out of 5

“An elevator is a small space that when too many people are in it it can be overwhelming. Justin Bieber’s championed artist Sam Tompkins releases new single and visual (W)hole.

He is seen on an elevator and as he goes through different floors it takes him through different experiences with people. The symbolism is when life is overloaded there is still a way to clear it all out. ”

“Is the idea of a perfect romance and relationship real, or more of mythological utopia that lives on in ‘The Hypothetical’ daydreams of our brain? That is the question Caroline Romano unleashes with this high energy almost demanding track.

The lyrical hooks and razor edged melody slice through the psyche on this track making it an attitude and vibe as much as a commentary on how we fantasize our relationships going.”

Flash forward and the now 16 year old talent has a bit more life experience to draw on which enabled her to complete the song and bring it to life. Her emotive talent, both in the writing and the performance, stands out from start to finish making Selbe a name to watch as she grows even more and blossom into the full out star that she is destined to become with such rare talent. ”

Jackson+Sellers - Waste Your Time [Review]

August 11, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, Commercial, Americana, Pop

                                Rating: 4 out of 5

“Jackson+Sellers reminds me of Lucinda Williams both in sound and attitude. That take no shit, take no prisoners vibe rises to the top of this jaded, yet righteous track.

’Waste Your Time’ is an ode to whatever brand of idiocy you’ve dealt with, though most people will apply the sentiments towards a bad relationship. The rowdy edge to this track brings it to life and makes the pointed commentary land hard right on the chin of the time wasters of this world. ”

#LAOnLockExclusive: Chriz Gabriel- "Potluck" [Music Video Review]

August 09, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music Videos, Music, Hip-Hop, Jazz

                                  Rating: 5 out of 5

“Nowadays people tend to run when they hear the word “potluck”. It usually means their job is encouraging them and their coworkers to contribute a food item to a work office dinner. We all know everyone can’t cook and everything isn’t safe.

However, Chriz Gabriel is cooking up a different vibe in his new single “Potluck” that you are sure to want more of after one listener.

Chriz fuses bay vibes and London life with a Hip -Hop and Jazz melody that allows you to dance all the way through. Initially one would expect to see a bunch of adults cluttered around but “Potluck” visually creates a vibe that displays the talent of kids and a universal track that anyone can ride too.”

Electra Mustaine - Society Talk [Review]

August 09, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop

                                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“Electra Mustaine certainly has the musical DNA as the daughter of Dave Mustaine, but her style and sound certainly differs from the bands her famous father was part of. ‘Society Talk’ conjured comparisons to early Gwen Stefani for me though there are certainly other contemporary Pop Stars that inspired Mustaine’s sound. That said, the writing delivers a pointed message taking this track beyond catchy status and into the realm of societal commentary. Still, te arrangement is one that is hard not to fall in and join because it is pure musical energy and attitude.”

Sofia Lainovic - I Will Not Bother Anymore [Review]

August 08, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Singer/Songwriter, Rock, Indie Pop, Indie Rock

                                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Sofia Lainovic infuses a sultry rasp into her vocals that reminds me some of ZZ Ward. ‘I Will Not Bother Anymore’ is about moving on from that person that hurt you and no longer allowing them to occupy your headspace or emotions.

The track has a Rock vibe to the melody and build though it uses elements of Blues, and Pop to blend the overall sound into an engaging ode to moving on.”

                                        J. Epps - APF [Music Video Review]

August 08, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Rap, Trap

                                        Rating: 4 out of 5

“J. Epps reps H-town on this track and if you’ve spent anytime in or around Texas’s biggest city, you will definitely dig on this lyrical flow. This track comes with a no frills flow and beat that is brought to life by Epps’ passion and talent. In other words this one track simply hits with the truth and a genuine realness that is often attempted but rarely created. If you want a bunch of shiny bells and whistles in your production this might not be the single for you, but if you can get down to the bare truth and a genuine flow — then this is one of the realest singles you will find.”
