Dropper - Memoirs of Working in a Bowling Alley [Review]

December 17, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock

Rating: 5 out of 5

“Some songs have a life, or at least aura about them that takes on its own personality and demeanor. ‘Memoirs Of A Working Bowling Alley’ certainly had that for me. The track from Dropper reminded me a bit of Sheryl Crow’s ‘All I Wanna Do’ in its wry perspective of a world full of people plugging along in their own way. The sound is a bit grittier here (in a good way) and perhaps more honest in its approach, but both tracks have true heart to them.

Frontwoman Andrea Scanniello shared her thoughts about the track. ‘We recorded “Memoirs of Working in a Bowling Alley” and the rest of our debut album with Andrija Tokic at the Bomb Shelter studio in Nashville. I’ve spent my entire adult life working in various service industry jobs- some more soul sucking than others. One of these jobs was spraying bowling shoes at the local lanes. “Memoirs” is about working these types of jobs and how at times it makes you question humanity and never want to speak to a soul ever again; that emotional drain that can only be experienced when you’re dealing with shitty drunk people night after night.””

Samantha Aurelio - Christmas in LA [Review]

December 17, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music Videos, Music

    Rating: 4 out of 5

“The seasons go by so fast but we always look forward to the holidays. Holidays in LA are different and Samantha Aurelio describes that in a nice melancholy letter title “Christmas in LA”. It may not snow but home is where the heart is which makes the holiday wonderful.”

      Rating: 4 out of 5

THE FUR x Julia Ross - Americana [Review]

December 13, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, House, EDM

        Rating: 4 out of 5

“This collaborative effort has a light airiness that swept me up and into yhe build. The vocal talent and clean production behind it are both top notch, making this is a track that simply pulled me in with its jaunty energy and infectious build.

A single that is easy to connect to and stay with making it feel uplifting and light in all the best ways. ”

Dami x Messenger - All I Know [Review]

December 13, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Contemporary R&B, Conscious, Hip-Hop, Rap

          Rating: 4 out of 5

“In the face of haters and naysayers, sometimes all we have to hang onto is our our own stubborn determination and personal belief that we can get there. ‘All I Know’ is all about having the confidence and stamina to persevere when others say — give it up.

Dami and Messenger team up here to deliver this chilled vibe and laidback flow and in doing so they have proved any and all naysayers wrong, because they clearly have the talent and resolve to rise above the fray.”

Spoon and the Forkestra - Blink Twice [Music Video Review]

December 10, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Music Videos, Indie Rock

            Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Spoon and Forkestra captures the disorienting world of disassociation both in the structure and performance of the song, as well as the imagery of the video. The emotive vocals style conveys the disarray of emotion and expectation quite well and the writing is spot on perfection. ‘Blink Twice’ is the kind of track that resonates more with every listen making it a must add to your more reflective playlists.”

Gustaf - Only God Knows [Review]

              Rating: 4 out of 5

“Denmark’s Gustaf has the kind of voice that feels like a conversation with a longtime friend. Beyond that talent, this track also has a nice easy groove and light airy tone tot he musical arrangement making it easy to fall in and connect with. both lyrically and musically.

This is a nice track that belongs on your playlists for those times you just wanna relax and feel a nice tranquil build. ”

                  MIXIE - Run Away [Review]

“Already having made her mark as a model, digital artist, and fashion designer, MIXIE is celebrating her artistic journey into music with her debut single, ‘Run Away.’

LGBTQI+ to the bone and current Manhattanite, MIXIE is a renaissance girl for the 21st century. Riding pure Pop tones and Commercial vibe musically, this track is right at home with current hits. The energy and lyrical flow hooks in and doesn’t let go. ”

MiQ The Burb Boy - B.O.M.B.S [Review]

November 28, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Rap, Hip-Hop, Autotune

                    Rating: 4 out of 5

“MiQ The Burb Boy comes in with clear purpose and deliberate, slower flow that burns with steady passion before the arrangement takes a harder edge and builds into a fiery and emotional take. The earnest performance and strong writing make for an engaging track.

Add in a sneaky hook to the beat which helps tie the track together in a tangible way, and this single has everything you could want from a song with true punching power.”

Hayk Keys - Party Of One [Review]

“An accomplished songwriter, Hayk Keys is now writing hits for himself and ‘Party Of One.’ might be the first time you are hearing Keys, but I have a solid hunch it won’t be the last.

The track delivers an engaging energy and lyrical honesty that resonate and keeps the listener invested in the overall build. A fun Commercial sound that gets in and does the job without a bunch of unnecessary production tricks or gimmicks. ”

Arlo Boe - 80's Movie [Review]

November 24, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, Commercial

                          Rating: 4 out of 5

“For a lot of people the 80s were the height of Pop music and this tack from Arlo Boe pays homage to the glorious synth sounds of that era. There is a Flashdance and Footloose feel to this track and it certainly would be right at home alongside those soundtracks but there is still a contemporary edge that lifts this one above being merely a tribute to musical glories of decades past. ”

                            Frank D - Mad [Review]

“Frank D taps into so much on this track. There is a bit of old school to the flow and delivery, but not so much the track truly feels retro. What it does feel is ... real.

’Mad’ is a track we can all relate to. The world has a way of beating us down and sometimes we have an exact reason for being mad while other we simply wake up that way from the pressure of the world we live in. This flow makes you feel like you are not alone in these struggles and that is what the best music does no matter the emotion being explored.”

Ryan Riback - (Just Can't) Hate U (feat. Dotter) [Review]

November 23, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, Commercial

“Australian producer, Ryan Riback pushes all the right buttons in giving us this single. ‘(Just Can’t) Hate U’ features the vocals talent of Dotter and the pairing of talent brings the song out to its fullest.

We’ve all had that person we should hate, but just can’t seem to find that particular emotion so we turn to them far more times that we should. This song is about such a dilemma and the odd mix of feelings that comes with it.”

November 19, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop, Singer/Songwriter, Commercial

                                Rating: 4.5 out of 5

“Michelle Ray leaves her mark, just as a ‘Tattoo’ does but Ray does it with a powerful voice and the emotive delivery not many artists are capable of. Big and bold this single has the same vibe you get from Pink, or Adele or other truly expressive vocalists.

Don’t sleep on this single, because Michelle Ray is a clear star in the making, and this is your chance to buy in early and help spread the word. ”

Ian Oshér - Never Alone [Review]

November 19, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial, Electronic, Indie Electronic, Indie Pop

                                  Rating: 4 out of 5

“Light and upbeat, ‘Never Alone’ from Ian Oshér is one of those songs that grabs you in immediately and refuses to let you go. The LA artists rides a nice calm wave to deliver the track. There is a subtle energy and spark without the track resorting to gimmicks or over production. The simple, straightforward lyrics and arrangement work quite well. ”

Chadster - Sin (ft. 6LACK) [MUSIC VIDEO]

November 19, 2021 by Kreadiv Kesh in Music, Rap, Hip-Hop

“Love is contagious and addicting but in Chadster’s new single with 6LACK it is sinful. The two explain how it can be wrong to love the wrong person but also feel good at the same time. It leaves you on a high and takes you away as if you are hypnotized.”

“Always aiming to make “music of the future,” Chadster’s sound is fresh, innovative, and out of this world. His alter ego is even the self-proclaimed “president of the universe.” Chadster is quickly rising and has sights set on world domination. Stay tuned-in on this promising young artist.”

Taska Black x Dasha - Going Nowhere [Review]

November 18, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Commercial

                                      Rating: 4 out of 5

“Taska Black teams up with Dash on this engaging track. “Going Nowhere’ is a pledge and a promise to stay loyal and true no matter what life throws up as a roadblock.

The build is engaging and the progression soft and vulnerable while also also fiercely determined in its tone. The mood of the track perfectly matches the tone of the writing and the build sweeps the listener along with little effort. ”

Sophie and the Giants - Golden Nights (feat. Benny Benassi, Dardust & Astrality) [Review]

November 18, 2021 by Travis Erwin in Music, Electro Pop

                                        Rating: 4 out of 5

“Sophie and the Giants deliver an Electro Pop sound that is bold and evocative and their latest track, ‘Golden Night’ is another example of the incredible talent involved.

The track has carefree let loose vibe and is all about just losing the world around you and staying invested in the moment. An easy thing to do while falling in and staying immersed in this tantalizing performance and build. ”
